70 years ago today, more than 160,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches at Normandy in what would become the final long push of WWII: The invasion of Germany. More than 9,000 troops were killed. Take a few moments to remember those brave men, and what it must have been like to charge across the beaches.

Just thinking about it scares the living shit out of me. To those who did it: Thank you for being there and being willing. You truly helped to save the world.

A small formation of 3 P-51s will be flying over the area (Olympia to Bellingham) today. The lead plane participated in the D-Day efforts and the pilot's father parachuted into Germany on June 6 as part of the 101st. The other 2 planes entered the war later. Hoping to get video of them overhead.

Very cool.

Any idea what time, or is there some way to get a heads-up? I think Boeing would be cool with me going outside for a few minutes, but probably not all day....

They left paine field just before 9 this morning and flew back over the airfield twice. I didn't get any decent pictures of them... There were supposed to be 4, but I only saw 3. I'm pretty sure the 4th took off about ten minutes ago, I could hear it but didn't see it. They'll be back between 11:30-12 to refuel

My best guess is that just about every one of those brave men were scared and afraid also.
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw them!
Only for about three seconds.
Looked like they were going to land at McChord.

They flew right on the deck at Tacoma Narrows.

Very cool sounds.
