according to moms demand action, this is irrefutable evidence that guns are out of control and that even abiding gun owners are a risk to everyone, including of course children.
hating 2 take blame for the actions of others I did a little fact finding research. This has led to a strong belief that the gun was either criminally owned or planted buy a anti gun activist. I use the term activist instead of extremist lightly.
http://www.sled.sc.gov/SCStateGunLaws1.aspx?MenuID=CWPaccording to South Carolina law, open carry of both rifles and handguns is illegal except for law enforcement, military, etc. concealed carry however is only allowed with a permit. couple that information with the fact that the police have not arrested anyone on criminal charges and only have one suspect who was on camera at the time acting suspicious. also that the police reported that the gun was not stolen. What you get is strong evidence that the person who put the gun there was a criminal. If it had been a law abiding citizen who accidentally removed his firearm for whatever purpose and sat it down for some crazy reason, his fingerprints on the gun would match the fingerprints on file with his concealed weapons permit. Therefore, either the police have not been able to run his fingerprints, the fingerprints were wiped from the gun, or it belonged to someone who was illegally carrying a firearm. Open carry Texas posted a tweet to moms demand action and Shannon Watts insinuating that this may have been the actions of someone trying to make gun owners look bad. Shannon watts replied by saying that accusing a group who stands for the safety of the community and children is ridiculous and caveats that only one group has ever brought weapons into target and it is not them.
the gun was found by an employee May 30th before a plan open carry event for target in another state happened. Moms demand action after learning of the event planned and immediately started petitioning target.
the entire issue smells like bullshit and raises a number of flags to responsible gun owners but moms demand action are so focused on proving their point, that they may end up shooting themselves in the foot with this. (No pun intended). the only people that have something to gain from this incident our moms demand action, they are also the only ones who have something to lose should it be found that the act was carried out by someone in connection with the group. after all, every shooter and armed gunman reflects on all gun owners and of course the blame falls on the NRA. Why shouldn't the action of one individual on the other side torpedo their entire operation?
