Im looking for some advice on a drive way motion dictator . I have looked at some I want one that just does a single chime or beep not to set a alarm off . Second a security camera set up that has some dvr capability . I don't mind wiring the cameras in but looking for ease of set up . this is something I have been thinking of doing for a wile but this weekend some one got into my work truck the only door that was unlocked was one with some parts but they dug through it and pulled stuff out . so any help would appreciated :patriot:

Here is a motion alert system. Range is maybe 100' if you're lucky, they also make a 600' range model.

They also have a bunch of different sensors. If you place this at the right height, it will detect cars and people/zombies. They do also make a magnetic vehicle detector but I hear they are not great.

camera wise stay away from q-see

lorex is ok, samsung has nice offerings.. costco and sams carries some of the newer higher quality resolution ones..

pay attention to recording resolution and not camera resolution... lots of dvr's record at half resolution than the monitor

HD just came out to the DVR world, those would be my vote if I were to put them in again..

QFT. I run a Lorex system and it's "okay". If somebody is more that 30' from the camera, then the only identifiable features are clothing color etc. It was a Costco system, a couple hundred bucks, but works well and you can remote in.

Friend of mine used one of the ones from Fry's.
It worked extremely well at night and recorded two thieves carting off his HD out of his garage. Without the video the cops told him he would have been SOL.

He also had it wired through his t.v. so he could check the outside whenever he was watching the tube.
