Looked to me like they opened the door because he tossed the burning cigarette back in the open window.
I know the attitude of throwing things back in people's faces seems cool in principle. But...be careful who you fuck with. I smoke in my car and as described above I flick the cherry off the cigarette and put the butt in an ashtray in my car. That being said, I have accidentally dropped the butt out the window while trying to flick out the cherry before.
If you had approached my car and tossed a burning cigarette back in the window you would have been disarmed and had your face stomped into the pavement. When the police arrived I would be happy to tell them that you approached my car and threw a burning cigarette in my window for no reason. Guess who goes to jail?
My point being if you're going to be aggressive toward people in that manner you better step your game up. You didn't even turn around when the individual opened their door behind you. Your weapon is in plain view, as you OC. How do you know they weren't going to rush you from behind and relieve you of your weapon?
I mean congrats to you on having the balls to stand up for what you believe in, but someone is going to check your ass one of these days and you better have a little better situational awareness when that car door opens up right behind you.

I found some beauty bark on fire at Redmond Town Center once which I assume was caused by someone's cigarette.

That area also looked very prone to brush fires. So better to catch his carpet on fire then the asphalt.
Not to mention, with the weapon on your hip randomly jumping out of your rig and going up to some perfect strangers car you do not know how they will react.

Yeah, those 3 mags and that flashlight totally pegged me as a banger. I guess I live life on the wild side... Yeah, such an aggressive move.... Sauntering up, picking up the butt, and politely tapping on his glass.. My body language totally screamed 'GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE CAR NOW, GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY!' FYI, my EDC is a duty belt/suspenders. SO much easier to carry 10 lbs of crap.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate people that litter but things could have turned bad for you very quickly if that cigarette had burned the driver or caught anything on fire.
Nobody said you looked like a banger, and it doesn't matter what YOU THINK your body language looked like. Your a big guy, OC'ing and obviously not LE, and approached a random car in traffic over a cigarette butt. Some people wouldn't panic as much since your gun was holstered, but not everyone is as open to civilians Open carrying.
When you knocked on their window and they saw your gun they might have thought your intentions were a bit different.

So did you put out the brush fire? That is the better story of the two.
Love the light bar...nice touch. Now you can fight fires, crime and pump septic tanks.

Perhaps if litterbugs knew they might have this happen to them they wouldn't litter?

Love the light bar...nice touch. Now you can fight fires, crime and pump septic tanks. The lightbar is retrofitted with a row of front facing HIDs, and the lightbar on the grille is all LED, solid white. It's for illumination, as I said. heh. As far as the fire.. When I arrived, it could almost have been tamped out, but the wind picked up, and it tripled in size in a matter of seconds... By the time fire arrived, it went from about 100 sq ft to a couple thousand square feet. Took about half an hour to get knocked down. I didn't stick around after the engine showed up, no reason to.

But if it came down to it and the douche got burned, assault > littering.

Listen man, we've had a bit of a checkered past in conversations on this forum but I'm not just trying to jump your shit I'm being serious here. I'm not speaking to your choice of attire, your carry preference, your posturing, none of those things. How you present yourself is your business. What I'm saying is people think of their cars as safe zones, a personal bubble. If you come up to my window OC'ing I've already cleared my holster. If you throw a burning cigarette butt in my window (mine or not) we're going to have more than words. All I'm saying is that if you're going to keep approaching people in their vehicles keep an eye on your surroundings. Instead of sauntering back to your vehicle smugly, you might want to notice that car door opening right behind you. One of these days it might be someone stepping out to return the favor, ya know? You were less than 10 paces out when the door opened, don't forget the rule of attacking distance. Not to mention you had your back turned. Just be more careful and aware. I hate people that litter too, but not enough to put myself in a dangerous situation to provide me some sort of personal gratification. Life's too short.

I didn't throw it at him, he reached for it, it dropped. If you watch the video, watch his hands through the rear glass. 2. You'll see me looking off to my left, then straight forward, wanna guess what windows look like on cars? Hint: they reflect a lot of light. I heard the door open, looked, saw the guy was looking at himself, and continued on. I started looking forward because as the car passed, I couldn't use the windows for reflection, in fact, you'll see me head slightly cocked to the side as I lost sight, as I was watching him through the reflection in my glasses (notice the tint). I'm no tacti-ninja, and I would agree that it would have been better if I was wearing a neon orange reflective vest and walked backwards to my car, but trust me, I know the risks I take. The thoughtfulness is appreciated. (?)
