I do agree that, yes, littering is bad. Especial littering an ignition source. No matter if it is in the woods, forest, desert or city. You also definitely do not look like a "banger", more like Peter Griffin (no offense intended). I was just thinking about the act from all sides. What would be going through your head if you were stopped at a light, some big guy with all sorts of gear around his waist gets out of his rig and was coming up to your car? I know there are many possibilities.... letting you know that your tail light or turn signal is out? Handing back the butt that your through out because your a *%$# tard? Is all pissed off because maybe you cut him off or some crap? General hate crime (not saying that I don't like the blazer, but it does look like it belongs in a camp in North Idaho)? Also, putting myself in his shoes, if I was an idiot that didn't care about littering, and you did that to me I probably would have thrown it right back out after you got back in your truck. Hopefully this clears up what I was trying to say.

That area also looked very prone to brush fires. So better to catch his carpet on fire then the asphalt.

Not to mention, with the weapon on your hip randomly jumping out of your rig and going up to some perfect strangers car you do not know how they will react.

Yeah, those 3 mags and that flashlight totally pegged me as a banger.

I guess I live life on the wild side...

:ROFLMAO:

Yeah, such an aggressive move.... Sauntering up, picking up the butt, and politely tapping on his glass..

My body language totally screamed 'GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE CAR NOW, GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY!'

FYI, my EDC is a duty belt/suspenders. SO much easier to carry 10 lbs of crap.

Listen man, we've had a bit of a checkered past in conversations on this forum but I'm not just trying to jump your shit I'm being serious here.

I'm not speaking to your choice of attire, your carry preference, your posturing, none of those things. How you present yourself is your business.

What I'm saying is people think of their cars as safe zones, a personal bubble. If you come up to my window OC'ing I've already cleared my holster. If you throw a burning cigarette butt in my window (mine or not) we're going to have more than words. All I'm saying is that if you're going to keep approaching people in their vehicles keep an eye on your surroundings. Instead of sauntering back to your vehicle smugly, you might want to notice that car door opening right behind you. One of these days it might be someone stepping out to return the favor, ya know? You were less than 10 paces out when the door opened, don't forget the rule of attacking distance. Not to mention you had your back turned.

Just be more careful and aware. I hate people that litter too, but not enough to put myself in a dangerous situation to provide me some sort of personal gratification. Life's too short.

1. I didn't throw it at him, he reached for it, it dropped. If you watch the video, watch his hands through the rear glass.

2. You'll see me looking off to my left, then straight forward, wanna guess what windows look like on cars? Hint: they reflect a lot of light. I heard the door open, looked, saw the guy was looking at himself, and continued on. I started looking forward because as the car passed, I couldn't use the windows for reflection, in fact, you'll see me head slightly cocked to the side as I lost sight, as I was watching him through the reflection in my glasses (notice the tint).

I'm no tacti-ninja, and I would agree that it would have been better if I was wearing a neon orange reflective vest and walked backwards to my car, but trust me, I know the risks I take.

The thoughtfulness is appreciated. (?)

Good deal, just be careful out there. I don't disagree at all with the idea behind what you did, but sometimes people will surprise you more than you surprise them.

You and Phoenix Jones need to partner up. With your techno gadget mobile and equilibrium like gun skills and his super suit and badass moves you guys would clean up this area in no time.

But seriously, heros get dead more often than not. And some may be ok with that, but over a cigarette butt I wouldn't be.

When I was a young man, and considerably cockier.
I would do the same thing when ever I could. Generally parking lots, though. My line was "Here I think you dropped this?" While flicking it in their lap.

Now that I'm older, maybe wiser?
I know two important things:
1. You can't fix stupid.
2. If that situation "goes bad?" You are the aggressor, in the eyes of the law. Armed law abiding citizens have a duty to de-escalate(?) situations.

Also, while I say good for you...if someone approaches my car in an intersection...well...
Not all criminals look like they're living the "thug life."

I do hate litter bugs.

I can't see the video.

I've learned in my earlier life that getting out of cars over stupid shit isnt good. I've gotten out of my car twice and had the other guy get out first twice. All 4 times luckily just resulted in a fist fight. If one of those guys was carrying or I was carrying then what? It ain't worth it to me to confront people over dumb shit I've got 2 kids now.

Littering isn't good.

Getting out of your car to confront someone you don't know over a cigarette is just ignorant.

I am 100% in agreement with Sinus on this one. If someone came up to my window it would not end well.

Let's say I threw out a mcdonalds wrapper (I don't smoke..heh)... and I watched some guy walk up..pick up the wrapper...and hand it back to me...I'd be more embrassed that I got caught.

Yeah. Pucker factor would probably be high when I saw the door open...but I'd realize shortly that the guy was just being a douchebag and calling me on my littering ways.

No, sometimes people just have to vent. No one is calling names and it's not getting out of line.

From past experiences the police seem to classify the aggressor as the one who got out of their car first. Which falls in line with some of my earlier posts in this thread. Basically if the person you had returned the cigarette butt to had gotten out and engaged you they most likely would have still considered you the aggressor as you engaged them first.

I understand that you were trying to stop them from littering but they seem to take a "don't start nothing, wont be nothing" mentality to define the aggressor in these instances.
