Don't have the original Fox News link available any more, but perhaps this will suffice? Probably not, since you seem to have a grudge against the CDC and a firm belief that Ebola is some kind of super-virus that can penetrate nitrile gloves.

If only there was some other transmission method for a virus that's not well known....something other than contact...

Hmmmmmm......

From your link:

"through what they said must have been a breach of Ebola safety protocol.

She started having symptoms -- including a low fever -- Friday night and drove herself to her own hospital. Within 90 minutes, she was in isolation and late Saturday night, the preliminary Ebola test came back positive.

The woman has been interviewed by investigators, but she could not identify when the breach may have happened, CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden said."

OK, there is no new news, and no confirmation. Just supposition. You are instead trusting the media's misleading headlines. They confirmed someone else has it, not that it was a breach of protocol.

So we've established the CDC didn't find out about the semen thing until recently. My beef with the CDC is them saying "it must be the victims fault because we couldn't possibly have missed anything", instead of saying "we're not sure what happened here, we're going to continue to investigate".

Now they are saying they are "revising their procedures".....

Ebola didn't just get through nitrile gloves. As you know, you need to protect your eyes, your mouth, any open skin. Personally I wouldn't want any exposed skin, broken or intact. Particularly with someone who is projectile vomiting and crapping. With ebola those loads are absolutely dangerous.

Look at all the things we learned about HIV, and are still learning.
Was she wearing the same gear as the staff that flew the Dr on the plane?

As this spreads, not everyone is going to have access to the same gear. I've watched as people in a terrible biohazard situation should have been wearing some kind of proper barrier clothing, but instead are wearing rubber boots with duct tape around the top... it doesn't take long for the "procedures" to break down.

Source? The CDC said earlier they had no idea if she had broken protocol or not. But they just assumed she did. Because that's easier than considering they might be wrong about something.

(edit) Note we are talking about the Dallas nurse not Spanish nurse...

Because it is the only way possible? Positive pressure suits are not something a bodily fluid transmitted disease just beams through.

She fucked up in decontamination or touched her eyes.

She was in a PPV suit?

99% chance that decon procedures weren't followed.

I doubt it. Maybe. She was likely just in gloves mask apron. However I juat assumed ppv due to the absolute craze this is resulting in.

Still not going to be an issue if protocol was followed. Why do we know protocol was not? Only one person infected.

If it was just apron and spit shield...then it may be an issue.... but if it was PPV than you really gotta fuck up to get it...

Still..as pointed out... still probably a decon issue.

So as per ABC news this AM the contact was indeed her SO.

Her husband is now Quarantined and her dog may have to die?????? .

That was from oct 7...I believe the dog has already been euthanized.

There is concern that canines are possibly an asymptomatic carrier of this strain of Ebola. In other words, they have no symptoms and don't get sick, yet can possibly transmit it to people.

...so if in that case, every time a dog carrying "The Ebola" licks a person, that is a possible mode of transmission.

"only way possible" You must work for the CDC. Because they know everything.
So now we have semen, and the dog as things they weren't originally aware of a month ago.

I don't believe she wasn't in a PPV suit. I think Tyvek coveralls and a mask, gloves. Still looking on that one.
Maybe something with the projectile vomiting/crapping means a PPV suit is the only safe option, and she wasn't wearing one?

Maybe the decon procedures need to be revised? (CDC has said they are doing that, in fact)

Back to whether the health worker lied about her following procedure, in fact the CDC has more reason to lie and cover up than she does. (especially if she's going to die)

CNN article

"She wore a mask, gown, shield and gloves. "

"On Monday morning, an official with direct knowledge of the Texas nurse's case told CNN that CDC disease detectives have interviewed the Texas nurse several times and think there were "inconsistencies" in the type of personal protective gear she wore and with the process used to put the gear on and remove it."

"CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden has said the agency is considering several possibilities as to how that breach may have happened, including whether the infection was spread when the protective equipment was removed or when the patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, received kidney dialysis or respiratory intubation."

more here: (reporting seems pretty balanced)

The thing is, dogs lick stuff. It is very easy to envision her coming come from work, stooping down and letting her dog lick her face in greeting. Dogs dont get sick, dogs just carry and transmit.

Because I am educated on the subject, and I actually talk about shit I know or bother to do research on? Rather than running my mouth on shit I dont know? Hmmmm...

Anyway, the revision for decon is very likely "reeducation". It sounds like people need it, this is a good thing. You say the CDC is lying about it... THEN OTHER PEOPLE WOULD BE SICK.

Stop parroting media hype man. Take the time to educate yourself with non media sources. You are right, projectile vomit would splash up behind a mask, but you know what? She likely would remember that...

Do you think she would remember mistakenly touching her wrist with gloves during decon, and then later rubbing the sweat from her brow with that now contaminated arm? Yeah....

People make mistakes.

All,

I thought we were all supposed to be a group of well read and intelligent individuals? Not prone to scare tactics and fear mongering? Am I wrong in this? I can only assume I am. We sound like MDA after a shooting. JFC on a cracker.

So..... then it didn't happen and we are left with an open question?

Or she's lying because she's more worried about losing her job than anything else? (like dying, other people being infected etc)

So you blindly trust our government then? You are sure they always tell us the truth?

I'm not worrying about it turning into Walking Dead overnight. I'm worried about them thinking they know everything about this and have complete control of it from spreading further. We should be asking questions instead of being sheep that are just grazing and watching.

But of course, I don't know anything about medical protocols, let's listen to some other people who do:
