Ebola can not be spread through the air for HUMAN TO HUMAN. Also the disease is only contagious at a certain point. The mortality rate isn't anywhere close to 90% either, this outbreak is closer to the 55-60% mark. I don't understand why everybody is making a big deal about two patients who are AMERICAN CITIZENS coming back for treatment. If the rest of the world had our hospitals, safety precautions, etc, Ebola wouldn't even be an issue. I guarantee that if it was any of you who got the virus you would be begging to come back to the U.S. for treatment. They are both heros in my book, risking their lives to help others and to learn more about the virus. The hospital they went to is the best in the WORLD for treating diseases such as the one they contracted.
The reason Ebola is spreading over there is ignorance. The CDC and WHO have dropped NUMEROUS pamphlets and talked to the top doctors in their country(Libera, Sierra Leon, etc) and told them how they could defeat it. The families aren't listening and are handling the bodies with their bare hands, aren't utilizing proper sanitation methods, the list goes on and on.
Whether the "Serum" by Zmapp actually works is still debatable. It has had a good showing when it was tested on animals, and out of the 3 humans that the news talks about getting it, 2/3 survived. The spanish priest who got the serum died even though he was given the serum.

Just to clarify the AIDS comment, I was speaking more to the fact that no serious research, money, medicine development occurred until it came here, and started killing white people. Not that this current Ebola outbreak would reach that type of numbers regarding the AIDS/HIV death toll. This strain of Ebola is fascinating though, it incubates longer and is 30% less lethal. It began spreading in cities first, unlike its predecessors which started in isolated areas first. Since I am considered to be a tin-foil-hatter by some here, I'll just get this off my chest. This is just another 'test-run' to see how quickly it can be quarantined, and if they're on the right track with this variant strain. The weaponized version will be placed in areas where containment will not be possible, and spread will be the most rapid. All of the 'Security Theater' by the TSA will not stop a bio-weapon, and in fact might even aid in spreading it faster. "Never let a good crisis go to waste!"

In any of those cases the Ebola virus can not stay suspended in the air long enough for transmission of one human to the next. If you had Ebola and sneezed in my mouth, I would absolutely probably get the virus. But if you sneezed in the air 30ft away, I would have no fear of getting it. Might want to do some studying on medical history before you try calling someone out eh?

We all knew it was just a matter of time. Pretty soon we'll all be watching "The Walking Dead", live and some of us will become extras on the show.

As far as I know, this is the first to be disagnosed/discovered in the U.S. That's a whole different ball game. Well, the good news is that we're going to start taking this a whole lot more seriously....
