Infection vectors are not something that just changes. There is little chance for this to happen without outside help. Even weaponized Ebola is not all that good of a "population killer".

Yes the virus has mutated, no it is not just "one mutation away" from becoming airborne. This is not how viruses work.

I'm not an idiot.. yes...I'm over simplifying..... but it's not uncommon for virii or bacteria to change characteristics and mutate.... this is why there are different types of influenza....different strains of the common cold...etc....

Of the shit that infects humans, I know of zero that have ever mutated their infection vector. HIV is not airborne, it has had a hell of a lot more time to mutate. If something hemorrhagic became airborne, it would quickly snuff itself out. It would kill off its hosts much to quickly to survive.
