I've said it before and I'll say it again, SHUT THE FUCK UP about how you pay more in taxes and that makes you better than us! Get off your fucking high horse unless you have something meaningful to contribute to this conversation.

DUI and killing people aren't even remotely equivalent. Those are both directly harmful to other people, and should absolutely be illegal.

Maybe an emphasis on treatment, rather than jail would be a better direction to go in. Considering that the drug war has essentially destroyed the 4th amendment - no knock raids, civil asset forfeiture where the burden of proof is reversed - and considering the trillions wasted with no discernible effect on drug usage, maybe its time to take a different approach.

Considering jail is essentially, "criminal school," all you're doing when you lock up drug addicts is teaching them how to feed their habit better. I'm not saying coddle drug addicts, if they steal or kill. By all means lock their ass up for stealing shit, or killing someone.

But if all they are is an addict then jail is not the place for them. This is coming from someone with not just one, but two drug addicts who have lived in the same house as me and who were family. Both of whom have recovered and are contributing members of society.

Hardly. I never said addiction would end. I have said the violence fueled black market would be greatly reduced, if not vanish. I mean, banning drugs has worked so well. And New York City has no crime committed with handguns.

Also, the Feinstein quote is a fake.

This argument implies addicts won't use if they can't find a clean needle. Try again.

King County spends $1.2 million/year on the needle exchange program. In contrast, life-time medical cost to treat one person who has HIV is estimated to be $385,200.4 By preventing infections in just three people per year, the needle exchange program pays for itself. By preventing HIV infections in just 1% of IDUs in King County, the program saves over $70 million in HIV-related medical costs. In this light needle exchange provides both a public health and an economic benefit to the residents of Seattle and King County.

We should stop feeding the homeless because then there's no incentive to live on the streets! Yeah, it sounds that stupid.

Wheel him back outside and dump him on the sidewalk?

Or..bleeding from gunshot wounds from a deal gone bad?

who pays? me? you? hospital through private funding(hint..there's your answer)? government?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, your arrogance and high and mighty attitude affects your business. More than once I have noticed that you have a sweet cz or something else then I realized who it was and picked it up elsewhere. As someone that is a dealer you might want to check your attitude at the door.

Oh I've paid more than 13k in taxes so yeah I guess I'm special like you. Yay!!!!!

Last I checked, though, the county wasn't giving them drugs, just sterile equipment so they don't all give each other Hepatitis/AIDS/Ebola.

EDIT: Well, there's the methadone clinics....

Indeed its not. However sticking myself with a used needle when I'm out for a walk is not on my to do list either. There are always going to be addicts, giving them a safe place to dispose of their paraphernalia... Even if it means having to hand out new shit its a net benefit. Especially when it cuts down on the chance of spreading around infectious diseases.

Sticking 'em all in jail ain't workin'. Time for a new approach.

IV drug users will just use their SSI checks to buy, or if not then steal, needles, from Walgreens, etc, and stab the used ones into trees at parks your children play at. If you're lucky. If you're unlucky, they will leave them other places like the sandbox, underneath the jungle gym, or in the bedsheets of a fancy hotel they were hired to perform a "trick" at.

The needle exchange gives them a sharps container that they actually USE--it's been proven the ones handed out are coming back full-- along with a supply of clean needles. It's not encouraging drug use, it's encouraging them to not spread their nasty to unsuspecting innocent normal people.
