Ok now that I got that out of the way the only part that kinda bugged me was when the sandstorm hit and the guys were being picked up by the QRF, I did not care for the "dramatic" reaching out the back of the Troop Carrier to grab Chris.
I hear what you're saying. Did you note the symbolism in that same scene where it showed him dropping his gear along with his RIFLE to make it into the QRF carrier. In the beginning of the movie when he was a kid, his father scolded him for throwing his rifle in the dirt.
Yeah, there were a couple of odd parts but still a fantastic movie.
That was the sign for he was done
OPS=Michael Moore
Yes I did get the symbolism behind him dropping his Rifle but I didn't care for the long "hand grabbing" scene.
LOL..............homophobe haha

I realize I'm late to the party, but we finally got to see this over the weekend and it was fantastic. Yes, the baby scene should have been done better but it didn't have any effect on the overall movie (and I probably wouldn't have noticed if not for the kerfuffle about it online).
It was a good mix of in-country action and at-home drama. I thought the way they ended it was brilliant. Total silence in the theater. We'll definitely buy it when it comes out on Blu-ray.

I'm going to get the book.
I heard that there is a lot that happened in the book that didn't make it into the movie.

As is usually the case in every movie that was preceded by a book.

I have no opinion on the reaching out to get a hand during the sandstorm but I will tell you that sandstorm scene was VERY realistic. I got caught in 2 of them in 23 months. You cant see 10 feet in front of you and the wind feels like needles anywhere there is bare skin. I have a couple pics i'll try to dig out when I get home tonight. at 3pm mid day it was incredibly dark and you could stare directly at the sun that was no bigger/brighter than the moon on a cloudy night.
great movie though. I was sick at the end and felt it hugely unnecessary to have that haji use a fucking power drill on that kids skull however.

We had one once that left a 3 foot sand drift on the side of our tent. It started, and everything was flat. It ended and there was enough sand on the north side of the GP medium to probably fill a large dump truck. All in less than 20 minutes. We were convinced the tent was going to fly away like the house in the Wiz of Oz.
