2 of 3 from the A's, now we have one of the worst teams in baseball here for a weekend series followed by 2 with the shitty El' Padres. We could be sitting fat and happy come Tuesday.
Lots of Mariner rumors circling around that they are looking to trade for a LF, and pitching (SP & bullpen). Zunino, Paxton, and a few others might be dangled out very soon. I think the Rangers getting back Darvish might get us buying earlier than we normally would have. We are playing GREAT baseball, and they have been on our heels right around 1.5 games back.

Definitely need that bullpen stud or three. These guys the Ms roll out just make you bite your fingernails every time when the game is close. They're scrappy but not overpowering.
Not sure about a starter. They really need that 1-2 punch if they make it to the playoffs, but who will give up a quality starter for what we have?

Gotta look at 2 things, the contract status of pitchers, and is their current team in the playoff hunt. Aoki has a total of ZERO RBI's on the season, has been horrible on the bases and is barely batting above .200.
Jake Shileds starting pitcher from The Padres: 2-6 record, but has a great ERA, and plays for a complete crap team with a little league offense Aroldis Chaoman relief pitcher from the Yankees: Reliever, that threw 105mph last season.
Shields would take more trade pieces since he has 2 more years left on his deal. Aroldis is a free agent after this season, and would require a good amount of value in return but considerably less than Shields.
Zunino, James Paxton, Dj Peterson,. Alex Jackson, Edwin Diaz among others.

Zunino is gonna be one that got away. I'll own it.

That the hiring of Edgar Martinez as the Mariners' hitting coach in late-June coincided with Cano's resurgence was not a coincidence. Since last July 18, Cano is hitting .317 with 27 home runs, 88 RBI and 72 runs scored in 112 games.
Edgar is a damn good hitting coach, I will say he will be a head coach some day.

Edgar...again, are you trying to make me cry?
I don't know that he'd make a terrific head coach, given his apparently mild mannered ways. I could be wrong. He's done wonders with Cano.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up...don't want to attract the attention of a wrathful G-d, who is pretty clearly, when not preoccupied with other things like the Middle East, not a Mariners fan.

Cano has helped himself by being healthy. Hernia surgery, broken toe, and a stomach virus all played a part of his struggles the first half of last year.

It is not like this is suddenly the first year he has a decent average, and only because Edgar graced him with his presence. People forget he hit .314 the year before Edgar came back, and is over .300 for his career.
