My wife and I are looking around for a new one, so I think I narrowed it down to a GMC Acadia vs Honda Pilot. We are not looking for brand new, few years old with less than 100,000 on it or so.
Any one own one or thoughts one vs another.
We have a 7 month old, and one likely on way in next year or two.
Thanks ahead of time!

I have a 2014 Dodge Durango and it is pretty sweet. We upgraded from a Hyundai Santa Fe to the Durango because of the extra row, gas milage was the same but the HP is way better in the Durango. We went captain's chair so it is easier to access the back row having car seats. We looked at a Pilot, but we didn't like how rigid it felt. Next on our list would have been a Toyota Highlander.

I actually have to agree with the Durango. I had a 2007 Hemi and that thing was amazing. Fast, comfortable, reliable and MPG wasn't terrible

Acadia has a very high failure rate of the AWD transaxle.

Gotta go with the honda because it's a honda. They don't really break down and when they do it's cheap. My friends and I have made huge horsepower while keeping tons of oem parts. 1500+ hp using the same factory block in a season of drag racing says a lot. Hondas will run for ever if you do your part.

Was pretty happy with our VW tiguan until we started running out of space when going camping with the dogs at which point we switched over to a power stroke.
~ 24-25 MPG (more city than hwy) ~ good power ~ awd ~ pretty safe if it is anything like the golf (got rammed in one)

Make sure it's mall rated. Attachment: avatar76_1.gif I'd go with the Honduh.

BMW X3. Shop around and you can find year or two old with under 50k miles and almost half cost of new. After my wife's Z4 and needing to haul our dogs around, I found her a year old fully loaded X3 with 9k miles six months ago for $10k less than new. Dare you to jump in a BMW suv after a ride in a Honda, you won't buy the Honda.... Get the eyes off the blink and bells and fig into how it's actually made and held together.
This comes from a fifty+ year old red blooded mechanic, has a big diesel trk, heavy elk Hunter, camps off the path, raced Chevy based stock cars and has done a good number of insurance rebuilds. My wife rides in something, going to be a BMW or another European car.

VW is pretty anti-gun. We had a Jetta and costs started to get to be too high (about $1000 a pop every time it went in). I'm not entirely sure the dealership where we had it services wasn't creating more problems than we fix. My limited experience with European cars is that they are fantastic, but maintenance costs can be higher than others (i'd suggest looking into those before you decide).
We ended up with a Subaru Forester, which is probably too small for your needs, but I can absolutely say that the AWD is very nice in this climate...I don't think I'll get another car without it if I can.
I've never owned a Honda, but we used to have a GMC Sierra 1500...loved it, but the mileage was terrible. Never got to the point where it was out of warranty and had to pay for much maintaining ourselves.
We have a 9 month old, so I would say that something about the size of the Forester or Honda CRV is too small for a second on the way.
Happy hunting. Let us know what you come up with.

Subaru tribeca. I have a legacy and love it have been in a few others and Subaru is the only car I will mostly likely own. If your set on only the 2 choices then go with the Honda. They can get a little cramped when the kids grow up but for now should do you fine. And as stated before Hondas will go forever.

I think the tribeca is ugly and I don't think they are made anymore, but you can probably find some on the used market. Downside with Subaru is it is a relatively small market to begin with, and people usually run them into the ground, not sell.

Take a look at the Nissan Rogue. Looks like a Lexus RX350 but doesn't cost as much. Has AWD, too.
