Lots of land out Eastern WA, if that's where you are looking. The vacation/retirement property I bought out there, I will be shooting off of whatever porch I feel like sitting on. Just don't tell our resident Socialists, because according to them those people on the east side apparently don't pay their "fair share" in property taxes.

rabbitsforfood wrote: Hi all, I'm hoping for some input as it relates to where in Washington I can get a piece of land big enough to either build/buy a home and being able to shoot in my backyard. I've been in WA for less than a year and am still getting acquainted with the area... and I'm not sure how well acquainted realtors are when it comes to stuff like this (I hear that there may be zoning issues). I've been told that areas like Carnation would be a good place to start. Since I work from home, I am curious about areas where I can get a decent plot of land (open to suggestions) where i can essentially step out of my house and into my own outdoor range. If it helps, I plan to run a can on all the pistols/rifles that I shoot. Thanks in advance for any advice or other things I ought to take into consideration. Have a good one! R I can get you five acres in Roy, complete with natural berms and a pond to shoot deer and ducks at. Call the broker, Judi Kidd 253 298 1382, tell her you are interested in the 5 acre Roy property.

Holy crap.
According to that map, I can shoot in my backyard.
Surely that can't be, it'd be way too convenient. Oh god, I'd spent all my money on ammo.

I know down here in Walla Walla County (I live about 100 ft outside the City Limits) legally I just need to find an appropriate area and I could shoot freely. "Appropriate area" meaning 500ft away from any occupied dwelling, road, etc...technically it means all this: http://app.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=332-52-145but you catch my drift...yeah Eastern WA is not bad for outdoor shooting opportunities.

Then, pray every day that a handful of Progressives don't take it upon themselves to get the rules changed "for the greater good." Or, make sure pro-gun people get elected to county offices.

Also, while scouting properties, if you hear gunfire, you'll know you're getting close... I'd try to go on weekends and spend a lot of time - walk the whole property, etc, for just that reason... I'm biased towards SE Thurston Co, but some consider it to be "too far". I like it that way

Please be careful where you shoot in eastern Washington especially in the summer. Major fire hazards.

How 'bout off Hwy 2 between Sultan and Index? If you do break some laws, it's not that far from Monroe for family/neighbors to visit you.

I used to shoot off of Sultan Basin road, but they are chasing people out....giving them tickets and such. There is a place, about a half hour, outside Gold Bar, that I want to check out....I just need someone to check it out with me-lol -dimwit-

-dimwit- If you are talking about FS 62, they have closed the shooting pits on that road
