Yhea, for anybody to honestly think that there isn't at least some complex algorithm going over internet communications is naive. If facebook can connect me to a person I have emailed twice, before there was facebook and only called on the phone a few times, then the Govt probably knows my current gas level in my Tahoe.

This. I am still confused why anyone was surprised by the NSA wire tap thing.

There are web-connected refrigerators that have a "Sabbath mode" feature. You can do the math from there.
does it not let you open the fridge on saturdays?
It has something to do with how/when the internal equipment runs, behavior of any visible lights and audible alarms, etc. Not familiar with the detailed specifications, actually, I just know they exist.

And the next gas price Hike will be calculated and triggers when more than 50% of US people have less than 1/2 tank full in their SUV's..

Found this interesting/scary infographic made my EFF, for those that don't think their data is being collected...

When I first heard the code-word "Prism" I figured it was related to something like this. Install a prism in the fiber cables that sends everything to the NSA. Works at the physical layer, not the digital layer, so it can only be detected by the db drop on the line.

Great video. That guy on the right at the end is huge.
You know who can legally spies on US Citizens? Our friends, like the UK. Then they give the US all the info we need to know.
This is why you should use a VPN, and HTTPS, and block ads. Don't use services from companies that sell your private information, like Google and Facebook. If you aren't paying for it, you are the product being sold. Encryption is something everybody should use, on a daily basis, for ALL their activities.

No bullshit.
I got suggestions for coworkers that I haven't spoken to in years, from companies that were 'off the books' so to speak.... people I didn't even have a phone number for....

VPN and HTTPS are all transparent to 3 letter agencies. The S in HTTPS might as well not be there, because it's not secure.
Encryption, on the other hand, such as PGP, is a major pain in the ass for most things...
However, you can NOT use any password that you'd normally use for any site, as they have it...
There are plenty of white papers released by Snowden that detail quite a bit..
I used to think our country would devolve into an armed rebellion of shit like this came to light..... Looks like too many people are content watching 'American Idol'...
