What do you get through http://www.cnet.com/internet-speed-test/?ftag=CAD9f89b0c&bhid=25458119715702576238050286002387?

I'm only getting 11.09 to 14.72 currently (xfinity). No wonder some of you guys can respond to a post while I'm still composing mine!

It means that Comcast can't charge Netflix extra money to get a "fast lane". Nor can they slow the internet speeds for everyone else and charge you a premium to get into the "fast lane"

That's purely conjecture.

Here's an additional conjecture for those who enjoy that sort of thing: Any FCC requirement currently imposed on broadcast (vs cable) tv can now be imposed by the FCC on internet users/ISPs since they're both now considered 'utilities.' For example, the fairness doctrine, 'community standards' regarding profanity, suspension of licenses (licenses!) for not providing community services, . . . oh, the possibilities are endless!
:shush:

^This.

It boggles my mind that people who are otherwise skeptical/critical of Big Government are not questioning this FCC power grab. They're taking the FCC (yet another federal agency under tremendous influence from the Obama administration) at its word that this is a benevolent consumer protection move. Why on earth would you give ANY part of the federal apparatus - ESPECIALLY one with clear political influences - the benefit of the doubt? And even more so when the head of that agency refuses to testify before Congress, the agency wouldn't give Congress time to review the proposed regulations, and the regulations were withheld from the public?

It appears more and more that Senator Ted Cruz - who was widely mocked for his analogy - may ultimately be proven to have been correct when he said that "net neutrality is like Obamacare for the Internet". People who took that literally entirely missed his point, which was that the proposed regulations were being sold as one good thing, when in reality the full extent of those regulations went much further than what was initially conveyed to the public, and it wasn't all good (Gruber, anyone?).

When the Obama administration sold the American public on Obamacare, it was done using promises of better access, lower costs, and being able to keep what you had. But Obamacare is like an onion; it has many layers. The Democrats and the Obama administration put all the "good stuff" on the outer layers, hoping that most people wouldn't peel back more to see what was inside. Well, we're peeling back those layers now, and we're finding out it's a pile of shit inside - not to mention that some of the biggest claims turned out to be whopping lies. And now, this FCC regulation of the Internet will likely turn out very simliar to Obamacare; it already has with respect to the initial transparency. The public is being sold on the idea that this is nothing more than a move to secure "net neutrality" so consumers don't get screwed. But what about the rest of it? If that's all the regulations govern, why aren't we able to see the details? What else might be buried in those 300+ pages?

If you're taking the FCC or the Obama administration at its word that this move is net neutrality, wholly net neutrality, and nothing but net neutrality, I have oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you... :facepalm2:

This is a great idea. Now, the NSA can have a pipeline direct to everyone by cutting out all of the middle men who built the industry.

Having the government in control of the internet is reassuring - after all, they run the IRS, and the Department of Licensing.

Any new rules and regulation will be retarded, onerous, and require several incomprehensible forms to qualify you for service, period.

So, now the Internet will be cost effective, open, and transparent to one and all - in government, that is.

And, like Obamacare, the fees for the general public will be reasonable, the service will be hoity toity, and water boarding is free of charge.

As for all them missing guidelines, they were written by the same asshole who wrote out 18 pages of 594, and summarized the ad campaign as " background checks "

So, even if you found them before this became law, doesn't matter.

The meaning of the guidelines and the implementation of this new internet law are completely different.

Fuck yeah, the Overlords are looking after us all right.

I feel better already.

No, but I'm waiting for Anzac and Soly to come along and insist that we need to give some of our bandwidth to others who are not as fortunate ... because it would be common sense and the right thing to do.
