Hopefully the 8 pages say "Private business's can't fuck up the internet, and neither can the FCC or the government." . If you think the gov't would include a restriction on their own power, I have some oceanfront property in AZ to sell you... It's the basis of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. I hate to quote Wikipedia but it's convenient: Wikipedia wrote: After enumerating specific rights retained by the people in the first eight Amendments, the Ninth Amendment and the Tenth Amendment summarily spelled out the principle of limited government. Together, these two last Amendments clarify the differences between the un-enumerated (as well as enumerated) rights of the people versus the expressly codified delegated powers of the federal government. The Ninth Amendment codified of the people do not have powers are expressly delegated to the federal government specifically by the Constitution. Government can do some things and not others.
The Constitution limits the power of the government in several ways. It prohibits the government from directly interfering with certain key areas: conscience, expression and association. Other actions are forbidden to the federal government and are reserved to state or local governments. If only we could return to the constitution and get rid of the crap that is currently in the government.
In principle, I wholeheartedly agree. However, government's track record in actually abiding by constitutional rules is not so great. Hence why FCC takeover is a bad thing.

It's not an "FCC takeover"
The FCC does not own the internet
The FCC does not control what content goes over the internet.
The FCC is not saying what you can and cannot transmit over the internet (outside of illegal things like kiddie porn and the like)
The FCC is saying ISP's cannot dictate what you see and how fast you see it (beyond the limitations of your connection speed)

Exactly. And M855 ammo was freely available until the ATF decided that they didn't want anyone to have it anymore. Ergo, the FCC will likely be able to decide some content is unsavory and that it is verboten. Nipplegate, anyone?

The FCC is saying ISP's cannot dictate what you see and how fast you see it (beyond the limitations of your connection speed) Once again, what you just wrote is pure conjecture at this point. Also, you have no way of guaranteeing that FCC enforcement of net neutrality will not result in scope creep that could one day lead to content/activity regulation. You don't know because you, like the rest of us, are not privy to the details.

Fact 1. The internet is not owned by the FCC, nor can it be owned by any entity.
Fact 2. The FCC has no power to control the content over the internet, because it is a global network and cannot be controlled from any one single point.
Fact 3. Ties in neatly with Fact 2.
Fact 4. Again, the FCC has already gone on record as explaining what Net Neutrality is, so at this time, all four points I raised are not simple conjecture, no matter how badly you, Fox News and half of AM radio want them to be. Don't try to out propaganda me, it won't work.

Fact 5. You have not read the FCC's new regulations and therefore have no idea whether the things you claim are facts will remain so. It is you who is promoting the propaganda here.

Nipplegate, anyone? Jesus tap dancing fucking Christ... Nipplegate is entirely different from the internet, and broadcast mediums have always had content restrictions on them, whereas the internet is not a broadcast medium, so comparing the internet to broadcast is entirely absurd. You can keep squeezing the tinfoil tighter and going "OMG WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF OMG THE SKY IS FALLING WHAT IF !" What amazes me is how many people are terrified of the internet as a utility. If you applied this same logic/fear/paranoia to telephone, you would be paying extra money to call somebody on a different carrier, or wouldn't be allowed to receive phone calls out of network unless somebody paid extra for the connection. Jesus fuck. I hope the next president is a goddamn republican so everyone will fawn and automatically approve of whatever it does, regardless of how good it is.

FCC Net Neutrality is a Regulatory 'Trojan Horse,' EFF SaysFunny though, how they seem to think Title II is better, yet this "win" is already showing signs of their premonition... Quote: [N]ow we face the really hard part: making sure the FCC doesn’t abuse its authority.
For example, the new rules include a “general conduct rule” that will let the FCC take action against ISP practices that don’t count as blocking, throttling, or paid prioritization. As we said last week and last year, vague rules are a problem. The FCC wants to be, in Chairman Wheeler’s words, “a referee on the field” who can stop any ISP action that it thinks “hurts consumers, competition, or innovation.” The problem with a rule this vague is that neither ISPs nor Internet users can know in advance what kinds of practices will run afoul of the rule. Only companies with significant legal staff and expertise may be able to use the rule effectively. And a vague rule gives the FCC an awful lot of discretion, potentially giving an unfair advantage to parties with insider influence. That means our work is not yet done. We must stay vigilant, and call out FCC overreach. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2015/02/f ... ty-big-winI agree that we need to ensure the FCC doesn't abuse its authority. Hopefully the 8 pages say "Private business's can't fuck up the internet, and neither can the FCC or the government." If some people try to use this to block porn on the internet and implement decency laws, all hell will break loose. As in, the next American Revolution. I am trolling? I don't fucking think so buddy. Shit, I thought everything on the Internet was real? It's not? Holly shit.
