I think I have OD'd on a couple of things in life before. Coffee and a woman. Same here, brother. At least there's treatment for the coffee OD... And for a woman who causes panic attacks and craziness? In the nuclear field we used to go by the old T.D.S... Time, Distance, and Shielding. I'll add that a good friend can sure help too. But back on topic of Maryjuana, I have no idea of it's effects. The only way I can picture testing it out is if there was an inevitable asteroid collision imminent... and even then, it seems like I'd want to be lucid right to the very end, enjoying the visual and sensations as it comes burning through the atmosphere and setting off ripple quakes around the globe. That'd be awesome. I'll add one more possibility- can someone describe the effects when it is used for medical purposes? Do the medical uses require less or more than recreational uses? Is it used just to "zone out" from pain? I apologize for my ignorance. I usually handle pain by breaking off a shovel handle and clenching the hickory in my teeth while I get beat up. If the person beating me up catches me before I find a wooden handle to chew on, I just don't stifle the screams of terror and pain. I mostly chew on the wood out of consideration for the fellow who's beating me up... I don't want to hurt his ears or cause premature hearing loss.

I've experienced chronic nausea off and on since about age 16, had batteries of tests done, no conclusive result. Couple of hits and the "munchies" kick in, bam, I can eat again. For medical purposes, usually just the one or two will do me good, maybe more if I'm feeling particularly ill. Others I know have described it as dulling their pain from fibromyalgia or other chronic pain diseases/disorders. I've heard it described along the lines of "the pain is still there, but the edge of it is blunted". As I don't suffer from that, I can't personally attest to it.

Medical pot is no different than recreational. I guess you could say the difference is that they make strains that cater to different things and fine tune your high that you are looking for. Say you are a cancer patient going through chemo and taking tons of pills, the pills make you so sick that you can't eat or you can't keep it down. Smoke a strain that will give you the munchies and your body will want to eat. Have chronic nerve problems? Smoke xyz strain and it dumbs down the pain. Sure you could take a pill for it but I've taken some serious pain pills and I'm full on loopy to the point I needed help functioning, with pot you can take a couple of hits just to take the edge off to help get through the day or smoke a whole bowl and sleep like a baby.
Eating edibles creates a different feeling than smoking.
You really just have to have smoked to fully understand honestly

I'm going to type out 3 paragraphs and wax eloquently about a similar story in my life. Pm me if you figured it out.

Is it used just to "zone out" from pain? I'm one of those people who think that the majority of people who smoke "medical" marijuana just use it as an excuse to be able to do it. That said, a couple years ago I was having chronic shoulder pain. Not sharp pain but a constant dull pain that makes getting to sleep very hard. After trying prescription & non-prescription pain meds I tried a very little as an experiment. The pain went away for 3 days. A couple days later I went in and got a shot in the shoulder joint and the pain went away for good. I have to say, after my experiment, if I was every in chronic pain I would consider it as an option.

For myself, marijuana does have a medical purpose. Does that mean everytime I smoke it is for that reason? Hell no. I enjoy the high and smoke often just to relax after work or school. I would imagine (though I have no evidence of this per se) that it is similar for a large amount of medical marijuana card holders.
