I would love to read the officers report on the situation.

Let's also quibble and quarrel about the exact definition of a phone call made in an attempt to get a police response.

How were his rights violated? The police can lawfully detain someone while they investigate if a crime took place.
Many, many times people get cuffed, they investigate and go ok you're free to go.

And I'd like to hear the 911 call or see a transcript. His post about it was heavily editorialized.

Has a complaint been filed?

Click Sam's link back on ... page 6, I think. At the top of his story is a YouTube video that contains both the 911 call and the dispatch call.

That will be coming up as soon as the FOIA goes through with the sheriffs department.

Temporary detention (terry stop) requires reasonable articulate suspicion that a crime has/is/will be committed.

The deputy admitted that no crime was suspected.

Ergo.. Unlawful stop.

Let's just say the clown who called it in is a complete gun-o-phobe lib douche and the dispatcher no real help and leave it like that.

If the responders shot you in the back, then we are talking.

Unlawfully detained today

I agree he shouldn't have been detained, but that simply is no excuse for the sensationalistic headline.

So a little infringement is OK with you?

His rights were only violated a little bit so it doesn't count?

GTFO ... You can't be serious.

I've heard the Man With a Gun calls over the radio in liberal-elite King County and the cops usually say "well what is he doing with the gun". They generally seem disinterested in investigating unless someone is on school grounds, or pointing a gun at other people or shooting it.
