And that right there is the attitude that makes gun owners look like assholes.

Mere peasants.

Hell, if I saw somebody in full mall ninja tactical gear I'd be pretty concerned myself. It's not something you normally see in an urban setting.

Urban, residential, pretty much the same thing. Places with lots of houses and a minimal number of people kitted up in body armor and rifles running around giving people the stink eye for wondering why there is someone running around in body armor with a rifle and handgun.

Plus Swatted? Seriously? That's an enormous stretch of the imagination. Fills word count though.

My badz, didn't know you had a visual layout of the area. Mind sharing? And I guess we gotta take your word for it, since you witnessed the OP running around giving da stinkeyez.

Pot....meet kettle.

You did read the article? You did read what he said? Instead of flipping out because I used urban/residential and suggested a person willing to call the cops was giving somebody the stinkeye, how about focusing on the absurdly hyperbolic claims of "swatting." I mean that's some Gavin Seimesque level of trolling right there to make that claim.

If it had been an attempted swatting the caller would have made it sound like there was an actual an imminent threat. That's how you get SWAT teams to show up. This? Not even close.

My inclination is to go with : someone saw a firearm and tried to get the bearer into a stinky mess (succeeded to a point.)
I know people like this - have had to work with a few. The mindset is vicious. The hatred is visceral.

Sam was there, and I think he knows better what really happened. I'm going with his version. And see no reason at all to trash on him unless you have some facts to share. A gut feeling, or anecdotes about how you have handled similar situations better in the past are a bit beneath your lofty stature Mr. Kick off those heels and rest a spell, Mr Crankypants. :cheers2:

I still haven't really figured out how the "Just show your papers and everything will be ok" response is ok with ANYONE in the free world. (Partly free, I mean.)

You can do better than an ad hominem attack on Sam... Explain why the "just show your papers" response is ok with you... please. Serious request. I am not looking for explanations of how things will be better if he does so- I am referring to the illegality of being required to show the (somewhat) metaphorical papers when it's not required (by law) and he wasn't suspected of committing a crime. A call in to a 911 center is not reasonable suspicion I don't think.

I am open to correction... True words.

Hmmm, sorry kettle, pot is a little slow today.

This is swatting. http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2013/se ... nsequences

What Sam experienced was not swatting by any stretch of the imagination.

Click. Bait.

The guy did say it was a non-emergency and showing up an hour later just makes the headline of being 'swatted' quite sensationalist. Not saying what happened was right, but come on man.

Also, we desperately need a sarcasm emoticon on this forum... think it would earn its keep preventing unnecessary dust-ups in no time at all.
