Not just pedestrians either....
I was in downtown oly yesterday.... Stopped at a stop sign, clear both directions, proceeded through, and had a car flying off a side street decide that they were gonna run through the intersection with me in it... TWICE.... ONE RIGHT AFTER THE OTHER...
Look bitch, if you weren't going 40 in a 25 the second you turn onto the street, you wouldn't have to slam on your brakes.
But yeah, vehicle vs ped is no joke.... Been to a couple... couple tons of steel vs flesh and bone never ends too well.. Hell, I got hit by a guy going about 15 and the docs were surprised I only had a minor concussion and swelling....

I will say ... after reading this thread, I slowed down and was a little more cautious when I was driving through town yesterday.

When you want to cross the street, you grab a little orange flag, and the cars come to a fucking SCREECHING HALT. Pedestrians are second only to God in Kirkland. I was in a taxi in Japan, and saw this little kid hauling ass towards a busy street...I swear, I thought I was going to see a horrible accident. The kid was running, got to the curb, stopped for one millisecond and threw out his hand, and everyone grabbed brakes, and then he darted across the street. I was like, WTF? Fast forward about twenty years, I'm with my eight year old daughter, and we are trying to cross a street in marked cross walk in Puyallup. Nobody would stop. I put out my hand, and stepped off the curb, and Pierce County sheriff damned near ran me over...

People in Kirkland ARE pretty considerate when it comes to pedestrians. On the other hand, Kirkland pedestrians are not at all considerate of CARS. Just now on the drive home I have people run out in front of me TWICE. Look, kids, my explorer weighs about 15 times what you do, and is moving at 30 miles an hour, YOU WON'T WIN THIS ENCOUNTER.

I am free because I say I am. My freedom is not dependent on any government benefit or piece of legislation. My rights are inherent in the fact that I was born a sovereign being. They are non-negotiable. The government can list them and protect them, but my rights are not theirs to give away.

The worst is when people stop in the middle of the road when I'm trying to jaywalk. Sent from my UAV using Disposition Matrix 2.0

Not exactly vehicle vs. pedestrian, but it amazes me how many people will cut off a Stryker on I-5 or 405. A 20 ton combat vehicle doesn't exactly stop on a dime. It will eat your civic for an appetizer, then munch on the Lexus salad, and roll over a Suburban for the main course.
