We are in need of controllers, evaluators, and citizen/victim role players for our upcoming active shooter full-scale, Fools Rush In. The day of the exercise is April 1, 2015. I would like to ask you to reach out to your volunteer groups and see if any of them are interested in helping us with this robust exercise. We are exercising our newly written integrated response plan, a plan that has fire/ems responding into warm zones for victim rescue.
I am also hoping you might reach out to your law enforcement and fire/ems professionals to see if any of them can assist us by serving as controllers, SimCell operators, and evaluators.
Controller and Evaluator training is scheduled for March 30, 2015 from 1:00 – 3:00. We will hold it in Thurston County, but we are working on ways to provide a phone-in option.
On the day of the exercise role players will be asked to check in at 0800. We are registering volunteer role players (those not on-the-job that day) as emergency workers, after which time moulage will begin. We anticipate exercise play to start at 10:30 and end no later than 1500. We are asking volunteer role players to provide the following:
Name
Address
Phone
E-mail address
Date of birth
To be clear, agency sponsored support personnel do not need to provide the information above.
If you have any questions, or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience.
Thanks In advance for any help you might be able to provide.

I remember those drills. We had to use JR high kids and they all thought it was funny. We needed actors not children.

So if this happens to show up on the news with a nut job shooter and people of a young nature dead, we will know who help aid the circus.

Um, isn't this why we teach Run, Hide, Fight in schools now? And the reason why police departments, having learned from Columbine and other incidents, are directed to enter the school/whatever and neutralize the shooter as soon as possible?
I don't know. I think these "drills" are kind of useless, especially as they don't involve actual emergency personnel in the drills. I've done my share of MASCAL drills, I'll pass, thanks.

Where did you get that idea? This exercise will include all sorts of emergency personnel. Fire, police, medical, and emergency management. The volunteers will be the victims.

The same Homeland Security that considers returning veterans a greater risk than Islamic terrorists? http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/200 ... /?page=allHomeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday that she was briefed before the release of a controversial intelligence assessment and that she stands by the report, which lists returning veterans among terrorist risks to the U.S.

I guess missed the part where you said that licenced, trained EMS personnel would be involved in the drill.

Questions:
1) Will the active shooter(s) be armed with a paintball gun? 2) Will said shooter be allowed to "mark" victims? 3) How do I get the job?

Patience is also fundamental when you're asking for volunteers.
