Thanks for the kind words everyone, she was an amazing lady. She lived in her own home untill she was 100 years old. She was in a care home in bellevue for the last 7 years and passed there. She was born in the UK while her mother was visiting so she had dual citizenship. When she turned 100 she got a letter from the Queen of England and the President of the United States. She and my father were on the last ship evacuating China when the Japanese were invading in 1939. She saw a whole lot in her life, drink a toast for granny for me. Thanks everyone.

I lost my grandmother a few days ago as well. She was 95. I no longer have any living grandparents. But it's o.k. though. They lived long lives. Both of my grandfathers lived into their 90s. Only my paternal grandmother died relatively early. She was in her 70s, but a huge hypochondirac. That definitely didn't help her longevity. Generally gives me hope for the future though. Makes me realize I still have a few years left if I take care of myself. God bless, buddy. I'm sorry for your loss too Jack, it was only a few days ago?...and I no longer have living Grandparents, or parents. Granny outlived her only child, (my Father) by 27 years.....I lost dad last year. I'm the new family patriarch which is a sobering thought.

Wow, sorry for your loss man. 107 is an amazing feat. The things she saw, experienced and did were probably enough to write more than a few books or at least keep you entertained with stories.

Amazing woman, amazing life.
No wonder you are a decent sort, with mentoring from someone like her.
You are now responsible to hand that quality on to the next generation.
I have no doubt you will do a good job of it.
My condolences, and my thoughts are with you.

When it comes to losing parents, that's a bridge I still have yet to cross, and am not looking forward to it. God willing, it hopefully won't be for quite some time. Again, my most heartfelt condolences and best wishes to you and your family. Can't help but think you're up to the challenge of being the patriarch and doing quite well.
