Hello all,
As one who will be a Washington resident by the end of this month, I was hoping you guys could give me an overview of the WAC. I keep running across it on the interweb, is this something I need to join?

If you intend to purchase a weapon at one of their gun shows you will need to be a member. Welcome to WA and WaGuns!

Do a search for WAC here in WaGuns. Go to a show first before thinking about joining.
Ever since 594 went into effect, there are now NO benefits to joining. It's like paying to go to an overpriced gun store.
IMO

It was that way before 594. And private sales outside a WAC show were always cheaper.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies!
Are there non-WAC gun shows?

By the way, most people on here are anti-WAC. Like suggested above, go to a WAC show first and see what you think.

I was just browsing the gun show calendar, Tacoma dome at the end of April.... Sounds like a cool first Washington gun show for me to attend. The WAC thing is kinda weird to me. I've never heard of a show requiring membership...

I've never heard of a show requiring membership... Supposedly WAC is a club. And before 594, they waved the membership around, which included a background check as proof their shows wouldn't get guns to felons. It was probably good marketing at one point. There are two schools of thought on WAC. One is that they are a useful organization, and the other is that they are a bungling, corrupt group past it's prime and dominated by ego and old school traditionalists.

Are they active in an effective manner to support 2nd Amendment rights, or the Washington State Constitution? You had mentioned corruption. I'm glad to spend money on good causes, but I am not looking to line the pockets of the self righteous....

There are plenty of WAC members and supporters here. They have been around for quite a while and have shows regularly. They do support the 2nd Amendment and the values that are important to us. As you can see by others comments here, there have been some issues. Despite some of our differences we all share similar values when it comes to our rights and beliefs. Will we all stand together when SHTF? Most likely.
