Bill introduced making it illegal to record police, in TX

Tue Mar 17, 2015 1:42 pm

WTF Texas, really?!

Lawmaker says filming police should be a crime, especially when armed

Fucking cocksuckers.

If one Texas lawmaker gets his way, it will be a misdemeanor for residents of the Lone Star State to point a camera at a police officer from a distance of 25 or fewer feet.

But wait, there's more!

If you're one of the chosen few, designated as 'approved media', it doesn't apply!

(1) filming, recording, photographing, or documenting the officer within 25 feet of the officer; or

(2) filming, recording, photographing, or documenting the officer within 100 feet of the officer while carrying a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code.

But wait, it gets even better....!

Frazier told the AP that “somebody is going to get killed” if citizen journalists and activists continue filming officers — or, as he put it, “trying to pick a fight with their camera.”

This fucking piece of shit... Shoot someone because they have a camera and are recording police?

if they have "shall issue" media badges, then no problem.

The same Rep. who introduced this bill supports concealed carry, nationwide reciprocity, shorter lead times for permits, and a host of other pro-gun bills and agendas in Texas and the U.S. as a whole.

Pick your poison.

soo... sacrifice 1st Amendment for 2nd? Glad I'm not in Texas, and don't have to make that choice.

Yeah 'documenting'... so if anyone is writing anything within 25ft, they'll demand to see what you're writing, then off to jail with you.....

To even suggest such a law, is fucking treasonous, IMO. A direct attempt at subverting the 1st amendment.

and then, all but threatening violence; 'someone will end up getting shot'.... for fucking RECORDING POLICE???!!

You've got to be out of your fucking mind....

and you wonder why idiots think it's a good idea to go start shooting cops? Because fucktards like this that wanna make it illegal to hold cops accountable.

The law will do more to endanger cops than keep them safe, guarantee it.

If you're going to jail for recording, I'll bet a bunch of people would resist, and rightfully so, and.. oh look... they're armed too.... sounds like a good way to force law abiding citizens into shooting police...

fucking idiot.

:cussing:

I can see it now...

Man is standing on sidewalk recording police, and an officer confronts him, telling him to stop recording.. and the man has to keep backing up...the officer keeps walking towards him and *poof*, he's within 25', and viola! Off to jail he goes!

Fuck that noise.

There are three bills in the Texas Legislature regarding the topic of filming police activity. Rep. Villalba's bill is by far the most ridiculous and won't get taken seriously by anyone other than the police associations who got him to be their lapdog.

And no one politician is perfect. This news story makes Villalbo out to be a person who is against freedom which is false. Always more to a story.
