And it was only from a 9mm... However I did shoot 450 rounds through a p938, shield, PPQ, CZ75 Retro, and a CZ75 SP01 Tactical in about an hour and 45 minutes at the range. Trying to compare accuracy and see what to sell or keep or buy. I think I was starting to taste the lead before I left as I was starting to get a weird smell and taste that took quite a while to go away. And damn it now I'm out of everything but hollow points. I could have sworn that I still had a decent stash of 9mm FMJ somewhere.

So question for you guys. What are costs looking like right now for just the components for reloading 9mm? I do have dirty brass but I don't have room in my RV for a progressive reloading setup unfortunately. Wanting to compare if it would be worth it to buy components vs Freedom Munition Reloads at 20 cents per round. I've been watching for their blaster ammo or their daily sale to go on for 9mm reloads too, has to be coming up soon.

My kinks are far superior to that.

The difficulties in reloading for 9mm is mainly finding powder. Pistol powder is pretty scarce still.
The cost is probably about the same, or even a bit cheaper right now for reman from freedom or Washougal.
I would go with Washougal first, from Brad's guns.

Yeah I have been seriously considering Brad's guns as that is a good price and local, heck I was just up by Lake Tapps last night, but at the same time waiting for it to go on Sale at Freedom as I'm planning on a bulk order where a couple cents cheaper per round would make a difference. And free shipping and no tax for out of state...

There's a fair amount of rifle powder available, but pistol powder hasn't made the same comeback quite yet.

You were probably tasting the powder and primer residue.

If you calculate the worth of your time, reloading will always be more expensive. If you want to reload as a hobby and consider the time free, then you can save money over the long run reloading plinking ammo. The long run.

As a general rule you don't count the economic value of leisure time spent doing hobby activities.

That's why so many almost new used reloading machines are for sale. I can think of a half dozen Dillon 550s in just the last couple years---machines that are near 'perfect' at the time reloading would make the most financial sense. For sale. Because it wasn't worth the time of the owner.

Some ammo is not worth your time. It will run you around six dollars a box to reload 9mm. Your are welcome to try it out on my equipment to see if it is worth your time.

Define affordable. This is a debate with no winning argument; for every "not worth the time" guy there is a "load a box for $3 in 2 minutes" guy. Dillon IMHO is the best progressive press but again, a non-winnable argument.

To me...there are two types of progressive press owners. Those who have a Dillon, and those who will eventually. The Hornady people should start squawking soon about that.

For single stage presses, it's awfully hard to beat a Lee turret. Or a Redding turret. But, there is a huge following for the RCBS so there ya go.

Oh...and some folks even seem to think Lee makes a good progressive press but I think those are the same people who enjoy having an abusive spouse and work a job they hate for not enough money also.
