Large explosion in NE Oregon on Hwy 26 yesterday, 1 confirmed dead. Sounds like they're pointing the finger at exploding targets. Still much that has not been disclosed.

I am amazed that tannerite is even legal. I am even more amazed that people don't kill themselves more often with it. It is only a matter of time before some dumb shit uses it in a bad way. Stupid people be stupid.

Tannerite is incredibly stable even when catalyzed. It will not detonate from the impact of a car crash.

Something else is at work here.

I've seen guys making full buckets of it on Doomsday Preppers. One guy split a small truck in half.

But it takes a rifle bullet to set it off. Mythbusters did a show on it. They filled the trunk of a car with the stuff, and couldn't get it to explode. You know how they go way over the top, and still nothing.

Some friends and I went on a camping trip. One guy brought a giant stuffed animal from his ex-wife that he wanted to destroy. So we took my tannerite and shoved it up inside the stuffed animal. Set it out in a safe location. Then about 8 of us lined up side by side and started shooting at it. Since we didn't know exactly where it was it took about 10-15 seconds for somebody to hit it. Great way to get rid of the stuffed animal.

Then we cleaned up the mess. Gotta leave it cleaner than when you arrive.

There are people who make their own. There was a guy in Renton doing that, and it caused a big scene with ATF, sheriff's bomb disposal etc.
They stuff he made was VERY VERY unstable. He had it in his refrigerator.

So it could be home brew gone wrong.

If I recall my friend in BD said that it is illegal to transport tannerite once it is mixed (under federal law?). I think that's the only applicable law on it right now.

In the pictures you can see they had SAR dogs to look for the human remains.

Someone messing with that much tannerite(or something else) in a remote forest at 6:30am strikes no one else as suspicious? Not to mention the fact that this guy lived in portland, and had to drive an hour+ to get to this place?

Call me crazy, but this doesn't pass the sniff test. There's something else going on here.

Tannerite is very stable. I highly doubt it was responsible unless it was discharged by a centerfire rifle.

It is, however, very explosive (BOOM is at 2:20).
