Call me crazy, but this doesn't pass the sniff test. There's something else going on here. At 0630 yea kinda, but at the same time not really. I like to get up early and get to my shooting area shortly after sunrise to avoid all the idiots if I can. And as for distance no, that doesn't suprise me. I was stationed in portland for a while, when I was, we drove an hour into the sticks in wa to shoot(currently 20 min from where I live), they recently shut down most of the shooting areas around it, and I have had to expand, he may know an area out that way to shoot, I do but I can't justify driving almost 2 hours one way. Unless you want to shoot at a range, you ain't finding to much within about 45 min to an hour from portland unless you know someone. Or go early and beat traffic

They found pieces of a gun, so 594 would have prevented this.

Wow! Lone Suicide Bomber. That's a hell of a way to go. Assuming this really was a suicide, that event took a lot of planning and preparation.
Will be interesting to see why they think it's a suicide.. Must have found a note?

So I guess the idea is that he mixed up a ridiculous amount of Tannerite (way more than that gallon jug, I'm sure), stood next to it, and then shot the jug?
That's a hell of a crater. That's NUTS.

Was it actually Tannerite? ...or another knock-off piece of garbage "binary" explosive that actually isn't safe yet marketed as such? ...or something the idiot cooked up off recipes from YouTube, Google, Bing, Reddit, the "deep web" or somewherez elze. ...or was it something else, like.... Either way, Tannerite gets a bad f'ing rap from all the knock off junk out there that actually WILL set fires, WILL go off without high impact, and WILL burn when flame is introduced. Among many other things.
