I've got nothing interesting going on for the next few weeks, and so have decided to read up on Virginia Dare and the Lost Colony.
Anyone else digging that story?

I will look in my files. Roanoke has been an on again, off again wet site for the last 30-40 years.
And yes, they were dead serious. It is actually a belief in Iceland. Or at least it is a claimed belief.

I've heard of that claimed belief, I wasn't aware that it was taken very seriously.
As for Roanoke, I'd be rather curious as to see what they've found there.

I forgot to mention, look for articles at jstor.org. You may need to get your prof to get you an account/password to read the full articles.
But, they have over 700 articles on Roanoke.

But, they have over 700 articles on Roanoke. Yeah, Jstor is awesome. I've got to decide how in depth I want to go on Roanoke itself, I'm leaning more towards the cultural mythology of Virginia Dare (She even shows up in Marvel Comics...) I think the most interesting thing is how often Dare is invoked for various political ideals, despite there being almost literally nothing known about her.
