I carry a Kershaw Leek. I don't know it's there but it always is. I've tried others, just too bulky or the most part.

Call\ me cheap, but I carry the Camillus RoBo Power Sizzle. small, light weight, keeps a good edge, easy, fast one hand open.

do you all like serrations? I personally haven't used that part much on my current blade, but it might come in handy sometime.

I'm not a fan of serrations on most knives. If it's available without, that's what I choose. I found I rarely, if ever used the serrations on blades I owned that had them. If I want a saw, I'll use a saw. My EDC Swiss Army Knife has a saw blade on it.

The clip can be changed so the knife can be carried in any position. Mine is configured for weak side carry, so when I grab it, it can be deployed with one hand.... I can actually open the knife INSIDE my pocket, so if things start to look shady, but don't warrant pulling it out yet, I can at least prepare... I was considering the CKRT EDC but opted for the brawler.

Well, the knife connoisseurs always go "full hater" when I post this . . . but my favorite knife is a "seconds" Kershaw Leek, in black, with the half-serrated blade. "Seconds": Cheap. I like cheap. Kershaw: Assisted opening, and FAST. Touch the nub, and the blade flies open. Leek: Slim. You can barely feel it in your pocket. Black: Inconspicuous in the pocket. Half-serrated: Great for sawing things when you need to. The only thing I would change about the knife is that I'd like to see a different clip on it so the knife would ride lower in the pocket.

I really really like the assisted open locking mechanism on my CRKT Ignitor. It won't fling open in your pocket or any other time you don't want it to, nor does it use any of those stupid lock switches like some of the other brands. For $35 or so it's hard to beat. If I ever wreck it or lose it I'll buy 2 more.

I may have to look into this before our next flight. We'll probably check a bag this time so there will actually be an option to bring a knife or two, but I don't want to risk losing the more expensive ones we normally carry to a light-fingered TSA drone. Although what I'm seeing on the Kershaw Guy website still isn't exactly at the "I won't care if I lose it" price point...

Kershaw CQC-8 with the Emerson "wave" opening. Fastest opening knife I've ever owned. The Kershaw is a legit ~$40 copy of the Emerson Wave ~$200. I've never handled the Emerson, but for a cheap knife the Kershaw is pretty slick.

Howdy!
I second the Buck vantage. Its my EDC. in a construction environment, its really tough, holds a good edge, and has a stout blade point. you can get the cheep plastic version, for 30-40, or the cocobolo scaled version for 60-70. I use the plastic for work in case it jumps out in an attic or in a ditch without my knowing. Brian

Invent a time machine and travel back to the time when Kershaw still made the R.A.M.. they were easy to find at $50 or so 5 years ago. While you are there pick up a handful of them since they now go for a few hundred or more... Oh and go slap whoever decided to quit making them.

For self-defense purposes a fixed blade is highly recommended. I always carry a Suarez International Gang unit. Very conceal able and effective. I teach some knife stuff and during reality-based drills with folders the draw is always where things fall apart.
