2 liter pop bottle...problem solved. A 2 liter bottle would be one of my last choices to try and piss in during a midair flight. Gallon milk jug is more my style.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps having another flight crew member in the cockpit temporarily might have given Mr. Lubitz pause, or perhaps he might have been talked down... Or they could have kept him away from the cockpit door lockout switch for enough time for the pilot to get in. But the JAL DC-8 flight in 1982 that was downed by the pilot, both the engineer and co-pilot fought with him, didn't prevent him killing 24 people.

I flew on Monday and also today, I will say that the stewardess' and the "men" handing out drinks are pointless in the cabin. The men were flamboyantly gay, the strongest muscles they had were in their faces so they could smile. Light weight little pussys that couldn't fight off a 14 year old, let alone an upset pilot. I wouldn't trust a drink passer outer to save a plane at all.
Also who's the dumb shit that didn't put a window in for row 10 on a 737? Thanks for the motion sickeness. I mean really there was plenty of room for a fucking window, but no I had to have a plastic cover that replaced a window. In fact it reduced my shoulder room too and made it uncomfortable due to having a fat fuck in the seat next to my wife that took up more than her chair area. Boeing really needs to sell fat fuck chairs and not have huge gaps in windows. Although the recaro seats that Alaska has are quiet nice.

Oops, did we miss a window?? There is an air duct that runs vertically inside the wall at that location, so there is one less window. Sorry.

Whoever is next to you wil probably let you have the aisle. I personally think your cheap ass should just upgrade to First and see how many times you can get an eye roll from the attendant(s) when asking for special dietary foods. LMAO

LMAO I did try to upgrade on both flights but all were taken. Special foods, haha that's funny. I could drink water in Mexico and still shiy solids.

Obviously high capacity airplanes are responsible for this tragic incident. Banning high capacity airplanes is a common sense solution... Too soon?

What is missing from this thread is the obvious (to me): Why, oh why, do we speak about technological fixes to what are essentially mental health issues?
You WaGuns members surely know where I am going with this....
Port Arthur, Australia, mentally unwell man murders dozens with firearms, country proceeds to confiscate firearms. Sandy Hook, &c. And yet, co-pilot for German Wings is now discovered to be under a "shall not work" ban from his physician because of his mental health state, and nobody tries to bans airplanes. "Do it for the children...." Where is Mr. Bloomberg when we need him?
The silence is deafening. Folks, the issue is and has always been MENTAL HEALTH. Crazy people do crazy things. Law abiding gun owners (and now, pilots) are not the problem.
Sorry. Rant over. Please move to the "pissed off" forum.

As most married men will tell you, you can't stop crazy. You can only attempt to contain and mitigate the damage.

Youre right pdrake. But what do you do about the stigma surrounding depression and other mental health issues?
'Cause I guarantee calling into work(pilot or otherwise) as depressed will get your ass fired faster than popping positive on a drug test.
