seems like it's going to turn out to be a nice truck.. only time will tell, but they basically doubled down on "brand" recognition by using cummins and aisin as well as built in 5th wheel hitch...
Can't wait to see one in person.. hope it drives decent...
I miss my armada... although it made 12mpg, it was a good vehicle for traveling..
yup... not that it's a bad thing.... (front and back looks fordish)
but feature wise it has a lot more to offer.. it's a long video but informative if you're in the market
1. cummins diesel 2. integrated gooseneck hitch 3. birds eye view camera 4. lane departure warning 5. integrated brake controller 6. 12000lbs towing (estimated) 7. over 2000lbs payload
it's an f150 that got left in the pantry and drank some muscle milk...

Love the idea. I can't believe there has not been a small diesel in a half ton in many years. To bad I would never own a Nissan or a Dodge. Looks bad ass though.

I'm sure that nissan and dodge by filling this segment will eventually force ford to offer one as well... it just may take a decade...

If people actually factored fuel consumption in cents per mile, you might find that gas is still cheaper. As long as the EcoBoost can get 22 or so on the highway, it will compete with the diesel. I like the torque of a diesel though. Now that I have a 7.3, It will be hard to go back. If it blows, I may look at the 5.9 cummins conversion. A fuel efficient SUV would sure be nice. I have zero use for a truck, I have trailers. Will they do the Armada with a diesel?

when the armada eventually gets released it would be dumb for them not to offer it in diesel... that will be the big seller.. not for MPG but for torque/hauling...
but there is no confirmation on that yet... I think they want to see how the diesel is accepted by the market...

Awesome. Should have done it years ago. Why manufactures don't listen to what people want is beyond me. We wanted diesel Toyotas, Nissans, mitsu's and jeeps forever. Personally I'd love a diesel Tacoma or wrangler.

in Asia diesel trucks are the norm.. the first gasser truck that went over there was ford f150 and that didn't sell too well for a long time...
problem is the US emissions standards are so high, the asian diesels would not pass muster...
that and the need to invest in a US based manufacturing plant to built these things...
the titan is more american (built in Mississippi) than the dodge ram (built in mexico)
I was ready to buy a ram 2500 truck this month but I'm thinking I'm going to wait 6 mos for these to come around... it's really more of a 5/8 ton truck than a 1/2 ton and not quite 3/4 ton
I may even buy the yellow for kicks.. although the bronze is the best color IMHO..

This is simple, big oil does not want them here. Same reason we don't have as many diesel cars as Europe. They cut into their bottom line. Being from Texas, I have many friends in the oil business. They have all admitted that big oil has played a huge part in the emissions laws the EPA sets. Much like big tobacco is doing with E cigs now.

I don't want to hijack the thread and make it all about just diesels, but there was a time, in the late 70s thru the mid 80s, where you could buy a diesel anything in the U.S. Small cars, big cars, small trucks, big trucks, SUVs, the whole vehicle lineup. There was a diesel powered everything here for a brief moment in time. For another thread, though.
Ford has/had a diesel for the F-150 ready to go, a number of years ago. It's the engine that never was.....but it exists in other countries and debuted in a slightly different form again here in other models. Perhaps it will (re?)appear again in the F-150 soon.
The Cummins in that Titan has no tenure yet, other than the name of the manufacturer. It was built for the (Dodge) Ram 1500 but when Fiat purchased Chrysler, plans changed. Hopefully it's a winner but this is the maiden voyage for it.
The Titan looks like a solid truck, so far. Nissan is all in, so more power to them.
