Not another thread about that criminal. But you know people here will vote for her. You can take that to the bank!

and yet recent polls have her in the lead for the Dems. Which blows my mind

She took a hit in the polls recently with the email thing...I think she's very vulnerable but her name/brand recognition is so high that a challenger would have to have Bill Gates finance their campaign before they could pose a serious threat.

This early in the game polls are fickle things, but we'll see I guess. If an obstruction of justice charge could get mustered up against her it would go a long way to putting nails in her coffin.

The people saying they would vote for Hillary mostly feel that way about her because her cell DNA has two X chromosomes. Their support for her has nothing to do with her qualifications/disqualifications, accomplishments (or lack thereof), or character. Barack Obama is living proof of that. America elected and re-elected a junior Senator who voted "Present" half the time and whose only real world experience prior to the Senate was as a community organizer, in large part because his skin cells contained more melanin. But pointing that out makes me both a racist and a sexist. And because Hillary is getting up there in age, I'm also ageist for criticizing her. I guess that gives me a hat trick of discrimination! Nevermind that I would eagerly vote for a 70-year old black woman if she demonstrated strong character, espoused sound principles, and had proven her ability to lead.

Getting back to the OP's point about building up a healthy stock of shooting supplies, I think now is a good time to start accumulating. Aside from the recent M855 situation and the continuing .22 LR volatility, the ammo market is pretty buyer friendly right now (for common calibers, anyway). PMAGs are cheap, and so are AR parts. There seem to be some really good deals on Glocks, Sigs, and S&Ws. Prices could come down even further, but right now there are some good deals to be had.

Excellent points all around.

I agree with the previous comment on Glock 17 mags. I like the 17 mags or 33 rounders for versatility. Also the reason I haven't gotten a shotgun, so I can concentrate my ammo purchases on 5.56 and 9mm. Reminds me though, I need to get more AR Mags.

I'm hoping that the Democrats take over the House or the Senate (I don't think I care which), and then we get a Republican president. There is nothing more dangerous than 1 political party having control of all 3 parts of our government, but we need a Republican President so there isn't another damn rush on Ammo/Guns.

One of the main reasons I dumped my shotguns and Mosin. Easier to buy a couple thousand rounds in 2 calibers than a couple hundred rounds each for 6 calibers

Why not just keep the Mosin and get a tin or two of 440 rounds. At $100 each you can get a thousand rounds easy. It's so cheap I don't know why to dump it.
You dumped your shotguns? You don't own a shotgun anymore? Why? Ammo is cheap and easy to purchase. What will you shoot birds and clay pigeons with?

I've been thinking:
.22lr
1 shotgun caliber
1 rifle caliber for hunting
1 AK
1 AR
1 or 2 pistol calibers

I guess I'm back to 6 calibers. I want a variety of firearms, not just 2.

^This.

I think everyone needs a .22 plinker, a shotgun (target, hunting, & defense), a CQB rifle, a defensive handgun, and long range rifle (hunting/long-range tactical). That's 5 platforms/calibers at a minimum. But that's just my 2 cents.

I suppose you could argue that a .22 rifle, a defensive handgun, and a CQB rifle are sufficient, but then you're SOL when it comes to shooting birds in flight, and your long-range game will be limited. If you don't foresee a need to have either of those capabilities, you can get by on 3 calibers.

I have 8 different calibers and I still don't think I have all my bases covered yet.
