A democrat in 2016 and more ammo shortages.

You know it will happen. Clinton, Warren, whoever. Even if the congress stays to the right, we have seen that presidents no longer need either of the houses and the courts don't give a shit. So I am guessing another ammo shortage, and probably the semi auto rifles of all types also. Definitely 30 round mags. So I am starting to stock up again. Not hoarding really, just want to gather about 3/4 of a ton of various types of ammo just to stock under the house.
And I think I am going to grab another AR or AK just for giggles.

Anyone else?

I'm not sure what's going to happen in 2016 . . . but I sure as hell don't take it for granted anymore that I can simply go buy a gun, or a suppressor, or ammo, or a magazine when I want one. Just in the last seven years since I started shooting again (since 2008), I've seen shortages, bans, and potential bans on pretty much all of those things.

So yeah, my philosophy is "buy it while you can."

I doubt Warren can win any more than Cruz can. Hillary is a real possibility though. I can almost guarantee that if she wins, we'll all wish we had bought more of everything, so I agree with Steve - buy it while you can.

500-rd cases of Federal 5.56 55gr ammo looks to be fairly cheap (sub-$0.32/rd) on Gunbroker right now.

Better to have and not need.......

Strictly from a supply point of view, the cost of metals goes up, as does inflation.

One of the main reasons I dumped my shotguns and Mosin. Easier to buy a couple thousand rounds in 2 calibers than a couple hundred rounds each for 6 calibers

Yes...this is why I limit the number of calibers I get myself into and buy lots of that ammo during periods of calm, like now (I figure it's easier to limit myself now and concentrate on a few calibers rather than attempt to pair down later or be forced to pay $$$ for ammo during a shortage). I also try to practice this discipline when it comes to platforms which impacts parts, magazines and accessories. For the purposes of this conversation - magazines are the most relevant/politically volatile. The Glock 9MM platform is a good basic example...own a G17 and the magazines work for the G19 and G26 - so you've tripled the utility of each magazine you buy (all of that can be applied to the 40 or 45 caliber guns too). Throw a Kel-Tec Sub2000 into the mix and now you're really cooking.

If I could get something the size of a Mac11 or Tec9 in x39... that'd be great.... :D

They come pretty close with the Micro draco.... but still not easily concealable.

Learn to reload and buy components. You can buy way more components than ammo. :wink05:

You must be one of those terrorists, manufacturing assault bullets.

Shhh! You're giving away my secret!

But seriously, yes. That's the best way to deal with these shortages. Self sufficiency comes in many forms.

I just know that every time the wife sends me for laundry detergent or something at Walmart. I always stop by the ammo counter and pick up a box or two of whatever, and stock it away.

I think the time is coming when shortages will once again be on the horizon ...and total bans like on 30 rnd mags. So I pick them up when I can. Over time it all adds up.

I'm retired and travel quite often. I am always hunting for powder and primers. I have around 8000 .223 bullets in various weights but I'm down to 1500 9mm 115gr & 2500 45acp 230 gr. I have 10K of the CCI 41's and 20 pounds of pistol powder (AA#2 & Ramshot Silhouette) and about 25 pounds of .223 powder.
I have a shitload of ammo loaded. I figure I have enough to get me through a couple years of BS but I'm looking to at least double my powder supply and quadruple my supply of pistol bullets.
Components folks, get em while you can!

Between Benghazi, this whole e-mail scandal, and her various snafus I think it highly unlikely Hillary ends up even winning the democratic primary. Obama was relatively unknown, Hillary is WELL known.

I think you are wrong, but I truely hope you are correct
