are there any real barbershops? You know the ones that does shaves with a straight razor, gets rid of those errant neck hairs, etc?
If there are, I'd be interested if there are any in the southend (Puyallup to Kent area).

Yes. Doug's in Kent. Good old fashioned haircut. Do expect to wait and they take a good 20-30 minutes for the haircut and straight razor shave.
$18 but well worth it for a good haircut.
Search on Yelp.com. Doug's Barber in Kent. You'll see my review.

Not in Tacoma, but Standing On Top Barbershop in Factoria Mall is a real old-school barbershop. (425)644-1994. They definitely do straight-razor shaves, and although they would, if located anywhere else, be considered a "black" barbershop, they do customers of all races and do really good job. Very patient staff, too. For instance, Jacob has such white blonde hair that one barber will hold a flashlight to cast a shadow on his individual hairs so the other barber can actually see what he's cutting. Great guys.

Rainier and South King County/North Pierce are not exactly proximate to one another, although I occasionally drive through.

Supernova barber shop in tacoma has a sexy barber who does straight shaves. I follow her on Instagram. One day I'll make it down there.
For the north end; Snohomish has a little shop (The Stag) it's one guy. He hates Obama with a passion and his entire shop is ammo belts, ammo boxes, dead animals, and traps. $14 for a shave. Can't beat the conversation either.

I've always been intrigued and wanted to try but the thought of a stranger that close to my neck with a fucking razor!? Ummm. No. Saw a buddy when I was like 10 get the top of his ear clipped off when "bowl cuts" we're just starting to take off. Been scared since. Why I shave my own head. But the facial hair is much harder and never quite looks right.

Then sir, you are missing out on an old fashioned haircut and you really haven't been to a true barber. Do know the folks at the hair dresser's are not barbers. They are beautician... Becoming a barber requires you to cut hair and lots of it... not color or all that other shit. It is your money and your hair... so cut it yourself or have the gal with the biggest boobs cut it. So long as you like it. To each their own. Good to see that their are a few "barbers" left in our small part of the world.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I had an Iraqi give me a straight razor touch up after a haircut on a base when I was there. The thought did cross my mind.
