I heard through the grapevine that firearms need to be registered. Do I have to license my firearms?

No, you don't. Any handguns purchased through dealers in Washington are on the books with Dept Of Licensing... so yes those are registered even though they say they are not... but... there is currently no registration requirement for what you have in your possession. Future transferred are confusing with I594 in place regarding gifts/family/inheritance/private sales and all that.
