I'd fix it. For me the only criteria for replacing a vehicle is when the floor boards rot through.

I've driven vehicles well into the 300k mileage range and saved a ton over buying a new or new to me used car.

My Son just put a new engine and transmission in his 3/4 ton work truck that had over 350k miles on it. Cost? Less than 6 months payments on a new one.

If you aren't driven by "looks" or "coolness", you just want transportation, keep up with the maintenance and repairs. Today's cars are capable of going unheard of miles compared to cars of past years.

Welp....Got it back. New clutch kit and install set me back $750. Clutch is much much lighter now than the old one (it was always really really stiff). Taking a bit to get used to, but that is definately cheaper than a couple months worth of car payments.

This is my first car, so there is a bit of sentiment to it.

Yeah $750 is cheap to get a car running that you already know the history of.

If it's your first car, and you have sentiment, then don't ever sell it. The money you get at the end of it's lifetime won't be worth it.

I still wish I hadn't sold my first gun, even though it was a piece of shit. I still wish I hadn't sold my first (well, second) car. 1989 Silver Caprice Classic Brougham Edition.
