Ok, I'm going to have to set a few things straight.

As much as we all think that the donated heart was wasted there was a Founding Father document that said something to the effect of "All men are created equal....etc".

I cant argue with them...I'm a strict Constitutionalist.

Our doctors have taken a Hippocratic oath to fix everyone no matter what their status financially or otherwise. So its not their fault who gets the heart.

So unless you're willing to ride the slippery slope that your Esteemed president thinks is appropriate and create Death Panels then this is hopefully going to be the way our medical system will work.

If the Gvt creates these panels, and some people (S. Palin) think they already exist, someday you're going to be the one that gets the "pill to make you comfortable" (Presidents Words) instead of the transplant that will give you 5 years more life.

I hate the fact that this POS wasted good parts ....but as I see it it cant/couldn't be helped.

I don't know where you fabricated "liberal policies" from TW.

How about this:

"However, with the help of the Georgia chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Stokes' story made national news and the hospital reconsidered.

"We met with the transplant committee and they told us they were considering all the other stuff, which shocked us," Rev. Samuel Mosteller, president of the group, said at the time. "They talked about truancy, they talked about absence in school, juvenile, there was a list in those things - poverty was one of the criteria."

At the time of the transplant, Mosteller said Stokes did not fit the stereotype of somebody who is a criminal."

I'm a liberal, and the hospital's prior policy sounds right on. If you have someone with a history of non-compliance, they're not a great candidate for the transplant to be successful. A liberal policy would be that his race or economic status shouldn't be a basis to deny healthcare. But if his BEHAVIOR or some other medical consideration is something that means he is not a great candidate, then so be it.

I will grant you this, the race card possibly may have been played: "The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) is an African-American civil rights organization. SCLC was closely associated with its first president, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "

The original doctor that denied him a transplant was right on the money.

And a nice comment I found on one article about him:

"this was actally his third transplant. 2 years ago when this video surfaced he already had a second transplant but the family didn't disclose it and the hospital cannot disclose medical patient issue due to "HIPPA". that was the non-complience issue talked about in the video he didnt take care of his first."

Come on man. Come on back and tell us about your great factual connection to a comment you found on the internetz.

Such linkage. Very research.

I passed it on without comment, other than the bold to highlight the interesting pieces. I have no way to assess whether it is true.

The article I read talked about the non-compliance issue this way:

Keepers of the nation's transplant list have strict guidelines about who qualifies, and while doctors didn't specify the reason, family friends told Thomas they've been told it's partly because Anthony has had low grades and trouble with the law.

"The non-compliance is fabricating, because they don't want to give him a heart," family friend Mack Major told Thomas. "This is unacceptable because he must lose his life because of a non-compliance."

And... one more link of the last crash... http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/04 ... eed-chase/

Non-compliance in people with transplants is a huge deal. It's not like one of us forgetting to take our multivitamin this morning.

Yeah, it sounds like he did lose his life because he chose non-compliance. I feel for the person who didn't get that heart - he/she lost their life too, perhaps.
