Actually, I'm totally fine with everything in Chuck's original post . . . I can dig a joke or a catchy thread title.

What I don't like is what's missing: A line at the end, maybe even behind a spoiler tag, that said "just kidding, it was a drill."

We're a community here, and we deal with real issues every day. How many threads have you seen like, "My dad died today," "I just lost my job," and even "My house burned down and I was injured." Those are real. People respond to them, and people help.

So I think a joke is cool . . . but it should be revealed as a joke once the punch line has been delivered.

As much as I love reading/posting here, I seriously doubt I would post this for real within a week of the occurrence. I think I would be too busy taking care of my kid to think about posting. I apologize, and I will see about April 1st being deleted from the calendar. Like I always tell my kids: "Fun will not be tolerated!".

I agree. Everything I read on the 1st, I read with some skepticism.

He made it clear last week when looking for volunteers that April first would be a drill. I saw back then that there was gunna be some fun involved in this for the gullible types.
