WaGuns Home Range, anywhere else to go.....

Fri Apr 03, 2015 10:14 pm

So this is my first weekend in Washington, it's about time I go shooting! I start checking out the WaGuns range map and see Renton Fish and Game, WaGuns home range. I figure cool, I can go shoot there tomorrow and maybe even meet a few of the WaGuns members! Awesome right.... Then I watch the range orientation video. ONLY ONE ROUND AT A TIME IN A RIFLE? That's terrible. I have never herd of such a thing. So the next range I check out is Cascade rifle and pistol club. Well, gotta be a member. Okay, so how about Black Diamond. I read a few reviews online, but was not able to discern if I can load a whole eight rounds in an enbloc and shoot. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I just wanna go to an outdoor range and enjoy my rifles....

I'm hoping to find something in the Kent, Renton, Tacoma areas.....

You can go to the Issaquah range. They allow you to load 10 rounds at a time. Here is their rules page http://www.issaquahsportsmensclub.com/i ... &Itemid=66

Champion Arms will let you shoot THEIR .223/5.56 ammo, if the range is quite they don't care too much about rapid fire drills if they know you're not a walking liability suit.

West Coast lets you shoot rifle in their Silver member area.

Both are, however, indoors. Snoqualmie Valley Rifle Club seems like a nice place and their range rules seem to fit with what you want but I'm pretty sure you have to be a member.

I appreciate the replies. I have never herd of round restrictions at ranges. I'll have to look a little deeper into getting a membership somewhere that has a little more freedom. I was really hoping tomorrow I could just spend a few hours outdoors enjoying shooting. Have any of you ever been to black diamond? do you know if they have any round restrictions?

Round restrictions for public ranges are pretty common around here. I've been to the Black Diamond range several times but only to shoot IDPA matches. I don't know what their rules are for the rifle range.

Oh my. So I just checked out Snoqualmie... Looks like a fun place to shoot. Then I see that smoking is not allowed on the range property. Hmmm, I'm starting to think I'm gonna have a tough time living in Washington state. You guys have an awful lot of rules here. This is really disturbing. Shit!

What distance are you looking to shoot at? There are some pits available. Green water out passed Enumclaw is decent, cleanup today as well.

Snoqualmie is a good spot.

The no-smoking rule is a requirement of the lease from Weyerhauser. And yes, it means ANYWHERE on club property, so you can't just go out to the parking lot for a smoke.

Or you can come down here to Mexico, and shoot what ever the heck you want to. Also you can go out to the clean & shoot today to shoot how you want to. (see events)

Yes, the membership required and round limitations have pushed me away from all the ranges in the area besides champion for handgun practice, rather spend my money on gas going to capital forest gravel pit to be able to practice how I like to.

If you don't' mind travelling to Olympia The Evergreen Sportsman's Club allows smoking, controlled mag dumps, holster work etc. Range RSO's are pretty lax. As long as you show that you are in control of the firearm and not an idiot, you have a lot of freedom.

Shoot! I just read up on the cleanup/shoot. But I slept in too late this morning. By the time I shower, load gear, and drive over two hours I won't get there in time for much of the cleanup. Oh well. I'll keep an eye on the calendar for next time!
