It is customary to do this kind of thing for visiting officials. Imagine it was the Australian flag, or the Canadian flag.... we should give them the same respect they give us when we visit.

While I think displaying flags from other countries is stupid, I think this one is a major over reaction.

If it followed the guidelines, then I have no issue. Show other countries that we have some class.

What it does is show the world we a cheap whores who sell out our own values for one reason or another. NO foreign flag should ever be flown on U.S. territory by any Federal, State, or local government agency on American soil. PERIOD.

Displaying the flag of the ambassador of a visiting nation is pretty much standard protocol. Other than the goof of improperly flying it, and the chance to whip up the FoxNooz crowd, this is pretty much a non issue.

In the real world, nations and vessels fly foreign flags all the time as a courtesy to visitors or when visiting. Grow up. It's an age old tradition and practice and considered a basic courtesy. Basically it's acknowledging that an important or valued visitor of distinction is now visiting as a guest.

I don't care what is considered protocol. I could care less about courtesy. Communism has enslaved and murdered billions.
