My wife called beacon plumbing to go to a rental we have in Tacoma to un clog a tub drain, the dispatch person said it was a $75 fee just to show up,but if they did the work that it wasn't charged. So the tech shows up and the renter said the tub and sink were draining slow, the tech calls my wife and tells her that he's not sure what it is,but might have to go under the house and take pipes apart to clear, tells her it's going to be $375 for the tub and $250 for the kitchen sink, wife's says ok! Tech calls back 40 minutes later saying he's done, says he snaked both drains and they're draining good now, wife asks him how much on the bill.....ready for this...$775 plus tax.the guy never even had to go under the house. Told the wife to contest the CC charge, she called the bank and they stopped payment, she's call Beacon on Monday and I told her if they don't lower the bill to I don't know,a lot they can kiss my ass I'll see them in small claims court when they take me. The guy was there less than an hr total time. By the way I'm out fishing in the Bering Sea that's why I'm not taking care of this, she's meaner than me anyway. One other thing total my numbers up that I posted, they don't add up and after looking on yelp, other people have had the same thing happen, they are charging me twice on the $75 charge that they said they don't charge if they do the work. Bunch of low life scammers at Beacon plumbing.

"She's meaner than me anyway."
Yeah, that's messed up. Hopefully Beacon will see the light before you have to snake THEIR pipes.

The only thing worse than a Lawyer is a Plumber. I can kinda see why, Lawyers deal with the cesspool of life and Plumbers deal with similar shit it a different way. Regardless, both are pond scum.
PS: my parents had a similar deal with Pats plumbing in Federal Way

They also had a $20 million spam lawsuit I think they lost. On yelp one of the customers said the tech told her they need to charge more to pay for that lawsuit,I believe it too. Can't wait to hear what they say on Monday,I'm not letting this go either,I'm fighting them all the way after reading all the stories on yelp, should have read that 1st I guess. I'm betting someone starts a class action lawsuit on them real soon,I'd join it for sure, just for the principle of it.

Yup! Plumbers are expensive. They also have you by the nuts, coming and going. Most people aren't smart enough to just grab a bottle of Drano or a coat hanger to clear the hair out of the P-trap when a sink, tub, or shower starts running slow.
For $10 you can also get a snake from Home Depot to fish out your young child's action figure he tried to send on a deep see journey beginning at the toilet.
For those that aren't somewhat plumbing savy they'd be better off calling a Handyman first.
Now that the Plumber has been there (Beacon), and done the work they said they would, you're stuck. Don't pay and they merely file a lien on the property and/or turn you over to collection. You're screwed if a "Work Order" was signed.
Now for some humor:
A guy came home from work and saw a plumber's truck in the driveway. When he went in his wife came out of the bedroom wearing a thin negligee and had a "post coital glow" about her. The husband asked her what was going on.
The wife replied "I'm having an affair with a plumber" to which the husband replied "Thank God, for a moment I thought it was a service call".

Beat me to it. Was thinking exactly the same thing. "so that's how they can afford him..."
"I'm just here so I can get paid"

sheeesh Scvette I would bet they tried she's a lady tactic on you guys.
heck for slow draining, get the hair and crap out first with a bore brush and pull that crap out, then pack some baking soda in it and then add some vinegar, cover it and let it bubble away.

How about 10 grains of Bullseye in a pill bottle and a fuse. Put the bottle in the drain, light the fuse, and hold it down with a toilet plunger. Should clear the drain and the ceiling repair where the plunger handle went through is a lot less to fix than calling a plumber.

Shit I could have easily fixed it for you. I used to work for Mr. Rooter plumbing for 3 plus years.
Some of them cocksuckers would just ripoff homeowners on there plumbing needs.

This was my last plumming problem. I had to open the wall and cut out the section of drain pipe and install new piping. i would hate to have seen the bill from a pluming company.
