It had been in there dead for 3 days until the weekend when i had time to see why the sink wouldnt drain. The smell was nasty. It was probably alive until my wife turned the water on in the bathroom sink. Im guessing the pipe filled up with water and he drowned. The sink wasnt draining at all.

Pat's plumbing charged me the same price for the same size job. I had to pay $100 for their "membership." Fuck them, so I learned to snake drains myself. Now I have my renters put some BioClean (check Amazon) into the drains every month when I tell them, and this helps them stay much much more clear. Plumbers have a good way of fucking people. BTW- If the clog is the renter's fault then they pay for it.

heck for slow draining, get the hair and crap out first with a bore brush and pull that crap out, then pack some baking soda in it and then add some vinegar, cover it and let it bubble away.
I'm thinking the same thing. They call and make it sound like a huge thing and you don't have a choice,if the guy had to of crawled under the house and take pipes apart to fix it,then fine I'd pay,but from everything I've read on these guys, that's what they do,make it seem like a big project. Plus the fact that they charged me 2 times on the $75 fee.i think I put down the wrong prices that was quoted, here's the right prices. So he said $375 for the tub,$250 for the kitchen, then he added that and it came to $700,then when he totaled everything up on the bottom of the invoice he added another $75 for service call, and the tax was another $75 and change. From what I read on yelp and the BBB,they've done that before,I wonder how many people didn't notice the extra $75. I'm fighting these guys to the end,if I lose I lose. I even might just turn around and take them to SCC just to be a dick.

had a plumber come out a couple years back to install a line for my fridge. He blew out part of the wall, but at least was nice enough to take $50 off the tab. Drywall is easy to fix (if we get around to it).
That was I think a 4 star company on yelp. Nice guy, appologetic. I could have fought I suppose, but the plumbing job wasn't much to start with.

So I called the guy and he told me he hasn't talked to the tech or looked at the bill yet,so I told him to call my wife in the afternoon and tell her what he decided, well of course he didn't call so she called him at 1630. He tried to tell her that's how they do things and she should be happy that it was done so quickly, she called his BS and said ok what are you going to do about it being so high,so he said to her, looks like there was a simple math error and he was going to refund the 2-$75 dollar charge that was on there, being the smartass she can be she said,oh you'll do that for me,caught him off gaurd and he said he'll take off the other $75 service charge. She told him we're still not paying $625 for a job that took 40 minutes,he said he'll talk to the owners and get back to us tomorrow. Screw them, they can take me to small claims court. If they come back and say $300 I'll pay,if not court.

Sounds like you have a rental. I have a question about your statement that I underlined. What if your renter house didn't have any strainers in any of the drains in the house? Who's fault is it then?
When I heard about the drains...... I thought that it couldn't have met code? Just an honest question.

I'm not sure on the strainers,we just remodeled that rental when the last renters were there,I would think it would have had strainers. The kitchen sink was plugged with grease though. We put probably 15,000 into that house when we rented it to the last couple, they were there for 2 yrs and thought they'd be getting there deposit back....ha. We had to put $4500 back into so we could rent it again..new doors that were kicked in off the hinges, holes in the walls from being punched, place was a pig sty when they left, even had food in the fridge. Oh they will be paying. Ha ha.

Wow, thats nuts! I got lucky with last plumber we called, Absolute Plumbling In skagit. He was here almost 2 hours to snake 2 drains that I couldnt get with my shitty $20 snake from HD. He only charged us $150 vs the $400 to $800 dollar phone qoutes I got from cpi and a few other places.
Since then I learned a sweet ass redneck trick. Next time you have a clog behind wall that draino cant tackle. Take apart pipe at wall, shove garden hose in as far it will go, stuff hand towel in opening around hose and crank it. That has cleared the last 2 drain problems we have had.
Good luck fighting those guys.

When I lived back east in Maryland we rented a house (to a co-worker of all people, big mistake). All the plumbing backed up. Snake didn't work as there was a complete blockage between house and septic tank.
So I dug up the line, opened the pipe, and discovered the renters flushed a small bath towel down the toilet. Also discovered his girl friend/roommate was a bartender at a local pub; he was a total drunk; and by the time they got home a night, I'm surprised they didn't try flush their Ford down the toilet. We got new tenants.
