I got a S5 in mid February, pretty durable. Also picked up a Magpul bump case for it as well. Compared to a co-workers active and externally about equivalent now.
What are the benefits if rooting the phone? I have heard this before. Any downsides for T-Mobile?

Nope. I do it mainly to gain control over what is installed on the phone, sometimes so I can install a whole new ROM, and just because I don't like to not be told I can't fuck with the software.

I haven't heard yet. They should, the Active's have performed fairly well. The S5 active's took a slight dip since the S5 was waterproof..ish. Now that this S6 is NOT waterproof..ish, an Active is needed in the lineup.. IMO.

If you like the real estate on the Note4, but want the EDGE styling, go for the Note EGDE. Those are pretty slick phones too. For me, the edge thing is just weird.. I keep on hitting it when I don't want to and case options are limited.. But, we have customers who LOVE em.
Olydemon is going to be picking one of these up... But he may want a 64GB.. He will give me his wish list later today.

What is the built memory/storage on the S5 Actives you have? They come with a small micro SD chip as well I think?

16GB and no, you have to provide your own Micro SD card.
