Eotech 512 vs XPS2.0

So aside from the physical size because of the different batteries, is there any other difference between these two?

Thinking long term AA batteries might be nicer as you can get decent rechargeable's and AA are easier to find anyplace..?

I am running an XPS3-4. Pretty much the same animal. I like the side to side battery since the battery covers on the 512 AAs wear out at the terminals from both shock and storage with batteries installed. I also believe that the battery life of the XPS is much longer if I remember correctly. If you buy Surefire batteries which are not much more than regular Tenergy or others, a ten pack will probably outlive both of us and the storage life is 10 years. The 3-4 has auto power down. I would imagine the 2 does as well but I am not sure. Even my 553 does not have auto power down, so that is a plus. CR123s are still pretty much all over the place and with the long battery life of the sight, 2 in the grip would cover you for a long time. The XPS3 has a quick latch mount standard, the 2 might also, which is nice. Mine locks right back on zero after it has been removed and reinstalled after a good scrubbing. This is just MHO.

I have a the XPS2-0. pulled it out the other day and batter was dead (or at least sight not power up) bugs me as I have only used it maybe 3-4 times for not more than 30min each time... Had me concerned about battery life.

Anyone know if the rechargable 123's will work?

Rechargeable 123s work. But I have not had a lot of luck with them. They discharge when not used unlike a regular battery. So what you have, is what I have found with the rechargeables. Go to use it.....dead. I have not had that problem with regular CR123s, so for me I would rather have working. I had the same problem with AA rechargeables as well in my XR308., but none with regular. FWIW

I have lived that with rechargables in other hobbies.. Current battery was a Panasonic lithium, I will grab a few more lithium 123's and see what happens.

my exps3 drained my battery after a time of no usage. original battery, wasn't a rechargeable.

I have (2) XPS2-0's. Love them because of the low profile. I chose to start using the shorter Eo's because I also like to have BUIS on my guns. Mount a rear BUIS as far back is it can go, then put a 512 on and you will probably be bridging the gap between the upper and rail.

I have ran my old 512 dead once, my old 552 dead once, and one of my XPS2's dead once... All because I forgot to turn them off.

Yeah I like the XPS2 I have, just freaked me out a bit when came up dead after so little use...

I normally power down, but I thought they also had an auto shutoff too, I will get another battery and keep track of it better...

EXPS has the QD and side buttons, XPS has standard attachment and rear buttons. EXPS has higher price also.
