Marriott has been great to us. When in Europe they gave us one step below a penthouse in Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Berlin. We had the same thing in Hawaii. Hard to say anything bad about them.

Using Alaska points to get to Europe this year sucked. In order to get home it was going to be about 32 hrs via Dubai on Emirates. WTF. We ended up just buying tickets on BA. Cost more, but 32 hrs to get home NFW. Using Alaska points for anything but domestic is pretty useless anymore even though I have a whole sheetload of points. We could have gotten BA seats there, getting home was crazy. I was even booking 6 months in advance.

I agree, Marriott has been a pretty good program. Especially when I travelled for business. They have free nights awarded for every 2 stays.
