I explained to an acquaintance of mind the change of heart among progressives around 2008 when the old time politicians realized their old base of working class union types and African-Americans wasn't working since they simply weren't having enough kids. Note they were all for immigration control then (popular among the lower middle class as immigrants erode their workplace bargaining power). Trump won largely on the old working class vote, and it's no secret Hillary got a lower percentage of the African-American vote than Obama (for a pretty obvious reason).

He thought I was crazy...he couldn't see the forest for the trees. He thinks we're all just heartless deplorable types who hate disadvantaged people.

C'est la vie. I'll bring you to the trough but I won't shove your face into the water.

Just because red states have a higher birthrate than blue states doesn’t mean they are being born to republicans. Being from the south I can tell you for a fact that poor, unmarried, uneducated, government dependent folks of all colors are having more children. The educated folks that wait till after college, have a career, have a home, a spouse, and are financially stable are not having as many. The first group of folks I mentioned ain’t going to vote away their free shit by voting republican. Logic tells me, the more dependent people become on government, the more kids they have that do the same, the more this country leans democrat. Texas is a perfect example with O’Rourke. Only one of their 5 major cities is hard right. This situation does not end well in my lifetime.
