I'm shopping tires already. Last weekend one of the stock tires popped while out in the forest. Goodyear Wrangler SR-A 275/65/18 and I see they are half the price of the lowest cost tire I've looked in to. Since I was planning to change these tires later this year it may be a good time to go ahead and do that, and maybe sell these nearly new tires. It's nice to have spares but, these as spare won't last long off the pavement. I definitely need at least an All Terrain and am considering having an additional set of wheels with Mud Tires for the hunting season. What I'm not considering is $2600 for a set with installation, warranties, and road hazard. That's just crazy out of the budget. Would I consider $1200-$1500 with all the extras? Yes.
I've looked at Les Schwab $$$ and seem to have a very high reputation, Sears historically where I get my tires for the past 9 years), Discount Tires seems to be more interested in selling rims and more attune to the needs of passenger cars, and I even learned that Amazon sells tires. I saw those $2600 tires on Amazon for half price. But....I'm not that interested in those tires.
I'll be out on the logging roads and the primitive roads a often so I need traction. I don't plan to lift the truck any time soon so going bigger isn't on my list and stock rims are just fine with me. I'm even open to getting slightly used takes offs since a close friend of mine has had goof fortune and great pricing doing just that.

If you need new and can wait a little bit, wait for the Memorial Day sales.

Cooper discoverers.
Ive had nothing but problems with goodyears and BFGs.
I run a one ton truck with E rated tires and run a AT/MT style tread.

Ifin ya really need. I've got a used set of 265/70/18 that's about 40% remaining. One legged dog show tire has a bit less than other 3, but still a bunch of miles left on it.

You can talk them down on price (Schwab, especially Discount Tire) and have them throw in all the gravy for free (installation, balancing, stems, warranties, and road hazard).
I never pay for that.
I really like the Nitto Terra Grapplers I put on my Silverado 2500 HD.

Yup. There is also discouttiredirect.com, they are discount tire. I had my wheels and tires shipped to my house for free and it was cheaper than going to the store. The store tried to dick me on the zinc coated lug nuts b6 saying goes they weren't included with the wheels. They tried to make a quick 75 bucks.

Memorial Day sales, good point.
I poked around on Craigslist too. Yes, lot of tires and such.
Cooper Discover, I saw some of those on Craigslist or Offer Up.
E rated? Does mean it's a 10ply tire?
lol what's a one legged dog show tire?
How are those Ridge Grapplers in the rain on paved roads/highway? I see they have two channels that run the circumference.

I'm not sure how they do, my tires are more aggressive and they do fine in rain and they are quite the on the road and don t wander. Those ridge grapples will do better on the road all around.

E rated should be 10 ply.
It's the lowest legal rating for my f250.

Skip the Wranglers. They came stock on a pickup I once had and once they started wearing, the traction went away quickly.
Can't go wrong with Michelin or BFG. Every time I've strayed from those brands, I've regretted it.

One legged dog= open differential. All torque on one drive tire, wears out first.
While they aren't going to get you 40k miles, they're still good for another 15-20k.

Costco doesn't budge on price and won't install tire sizes not listed on your door sticker.
Discount Tire has always been cheaper for me.
