Otherwise, you will have to tough it out on your own which will ruin this part of your life. Don't ask how I know. As much as we joke about it, being a Liberal isn't really a disease. Yes they have screwy ideas. But you can't just check them into a psychiatric hospital. If your Mom is just a little nutty, it's one thing. But if she's actually "sick" like dementia etc, and needs help, that's another thing. I've just dealt with too many people that are children and don't want to be mature and grow up, they turn into a life of dependence upon others. Never want to get a job, take responsibility for their life. Those people should be kicked out and ignored.

My mom has old timers and dementia, husband cares for her. Her shitbag husband has probably embezzled most of our inheritance. But going to court and paying for her in a full care 24/7 facility would probably cost more than just leaving things alone. And she seems to be happy.

Please do this. Even if you can, unprofessionally and untrained, diagnose an issue, then what? What's the next step? Maybe find a doctor? Maybe seek professional treatment/help? Just cut to the chase.... Just start there. It's the shortest route to a resolution if that's what you are truly after. Call your doc, go online & check with the city/county you're in, check with the local Council on Aging, etc.,... Getting her assessed is the best thing, and if she's okay, fine; if not, they can tell you what resources are available and lay out a plan. If the goal is to keep her safe, this is the quickest way to do that. Also, there are meds that can slow the progression, so the quicker she's evaluated, the better. Just tell her it's a health evaluation in case she's traveling to Alabama (or wherever it was...) I wish you both well in this.

Ugh. This 'Amy' chick was sent a picture of how she 'was beaten last night'.....
Google image search....
It was a zoomed in (cropped) picture of a syrian prisoner..
I told my mom.... Showed her it was cleaely fake.... Her response 'well, i should ask him if he sent the right picture'... When it was CLEARLY cropped to make it look like domestic abuse...apparently 'Amy's brother' sent it to her...
Fuck dude..I think I might have to get LE involved in this shit...she's alleging abuse might give me a back door into an investigation...

Not trying to dog you, well, not totally....
Just saying get her help.
To paraphrase (badly), 'idle minds are the internet's playground"....
Get her busy with something in the real world. Not a hard concept.
Find a senior day center down there. You drop them in the morning, they do crafts, sing, whatever, for 4 or 5 hours.
Even more importantly, they can recognize if something's wrong, stear you to services, etc.

Too sad to dwell on, but I understand. Best wishes for some resolution.

So, when does that "Old enough to know better" shit kick in??? I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.
