We'll be in the direct path in Casper, Wyoming. I have my Konus 80mm x 60x spotting scope set up with a black polymer sun filter, *camera bracket and tripod. This allows me to attach my phone to the spotting scope and video tape the full eclipse that should last about 2 min 42 seconds and snap photos simultaneously. *See photo. Should be interesting!

Either working, or relaxing in the living room watching it on the news.

Will just be chilling. Spent all my annual vacation on the big road trip this Summer so will be kicking it here in Round Rock.
You're smack in the middle of the state in Casper. Have you ever seen the Wind River Range? Casper is closer to the east side of the range (Lander) than the west side (Pinedale). Pretty long drive to Lander from there but might be worth a jaunt if you have some extra days.

Well, up here we should still see around 90% totality. I'll be home, since Monday is my day off. Wife will be at work. I might go down to Lake WA to see it, not sure.

I've heard you can get free glasses from the Seattle Library. Otherwise I'll be using this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00 ... UTF8&psc=1I bought it 18 months ago for $30. I made a filter for my 22-66x 100mm spotting scope. I used a piece of 3 or 4" PVC and some rubber cement. I'll probably make a couple for my 7x50 binoculars. But I might just hold the leftovers up in front of my face. I'll probably have extra, so if you need some for a serious purpose, let me know and I can probably send you some. I'm not traveling down to the path of total coverage. Will be returning from camping at Rainier on Sunday. So I'll be in Bellevue. Spotting Scope Filter and leftover polymer. The surface of the filter is perfect condition, that spot is just from the camera. Instructions:

Thanks.

I bought that exact product a few days ago (now they're out) and was needing some McGuiyver action. Thank you so much!!!

Damn those pictures I posted are giant. I took my scope to Home Depot, and played around with all the PVC stuff they had until I found one I thought was the best size. I had to use some sandpaper on the inside of it to get it to fit better. When you glue the film on, make sure the PFC is nice and clean, and follow the instructions. Glue on both sides, let it dry for like 10 minutes, then stick them together. Get a really good seal, you don't want the film blowing off in the wind when you are staring at the sun at 20x. Then I left the cardboard there, with tape on both sides, to protect the surface. The entire thing goes in a zip-lock bag. Not sure how I'll craft them for my binoculars. I have a feeling that the spot scope is too much power, and naked eye or binoculars will be best.

The mylar bags that some cookies, crackers, chips, candy bars, etc... come in, will make the same kind of filter.

Strategically located to block the evening sun when I am sitting at the computer. Thought was, "reflective. Thick. Looks like that will work real good!" Sun makes it's travels, next thing you know, I am looking at the sun, through the mylar. "Huh!! Wattayaknow! A sun filter!"
