I watched it at work. They made a big event out of it and bought glasses for everyone and provided a nice little spread of breakfast munchies.
It was interesting talking to the Indian guys on my team. They said eclipses are seen all the time in Asia and that this is old hat for them. They thought it was funny that we're making such a big deal out of it. I told them that it's always cloudy here when there's some kind of astronomical event like this.
They also mentioned that for many, it's quite the religious event. Fasting, bathing afterward, going to the temple and praying, etc.

This one was 'special' because it could be viewed from the East to West coast's of the US.
But ya, they are often visible somewhere in the world.
Last total eclipse visible from WA State was 1979.
My niece got the whole experience today on a beach in South Carolina, few miles from her house.

I can agree a partial eclipse is a nothingburger. I don't think I'd have even noticed it if I didn't know it was coming. It got a little dark, but that happens with clouds. I mean cool to look at with glasses, but nothing like a full eclipse. I viewed from central Oregon and it was pretty freaking cool. I'll definitely be trying to see another in my lifetime. I highly recommend it.

I find all natural phenomena on this scale to be most excellent... Because it may open some people's minds to the incredible power of science and understanding the scientific method.
How are people able to look up into the sky and accurately KNOW exactly when and where the shadow will fall? That question probably blew minds all over the USA as they were "forced" to acknowledge science on Eclipse Day 2017.
We set up chairs, set out our viewers, a small table with snacks and took pics and vids for the daughter. She'll have a record and pics of the event as she grows up and I bet will enjoy remembering it later in life.
